Cool thread. One thing I'd suggest when evaluating EAs: always run your own backtest on M1 data over at least 3-5 years before going live. Most EA vendors show 3-6 months of cherry-picked results.
I've tested dozens of EAs and the pattern is always the same. Great results on the vendor's timeframe, then it falls apart when you extend the dataset. The ones that survive 5+ years of data with consistent profit factor above 1.3 are rare, maybe 1 in 20.
A few red flags I watch for:
- No StopLoss or very wide SL (martingale hidden behind "smart money management")
- Only tested on one pair during a trending period
- Win rate above 80% (usually means tiny TP, huge SL)
For anyone here who wants to validate an EA's logic before buying, you can build the same rules visually and backtest them on 10 years of data in 30 seconds at https://backtrex.com (free plan available). Saves you from paying $12-50 for EAs that only work in hindsight.
Keep sharing your finds though, always interesting to see what's out there.
