the idea wasn’t about predicting what price must do —
it’s about reading context and planning scenarios.
At that moment:

  1. Uptrend was intact
  2. Price was compressing under resistance

That leans bullish — until proven otherwise.
Price rejected the level this time — that’s information, not contradiction.
That’s how I trade — not predictions, but reactions.

Hi Meirk,
Can you tell me please when you are finding your zones do you use the line chart, the candle bodies, the wicks or some other way and is it mostly done on the Daily or the 4 Hour. Regards Brian.

Hi Brian,
I define my zones based on candle bodies (closing prices) — that’s where the market actually accepts value.
Wicks are secondary. I only take them into account when there’s clear, repeated rejection, but they don’t define the zone.
All key levels come from the H4 and Daily. Lower timeframes are used strictly for execution.
Most traders overcomplicate this by mixing methods. I don’t — I stick to one approach and that’s what keeps the levels clean and reliable.

EURCAD – At a Decision Point
Price pushed pretty aggressively into a major resistance zone (Daily + H4) around 1.6070–1.6100.
This isn’t just another level — price has reacted here before, and now we’re back after a previous breakdown, so it’s a proper retest.
On the lower timeframes, the move up is strong.
That usually means one thing — not the place to start selling blindly.
What I’m looking for now is straightforward:

  1. some signs of exhaustion
  2. or a clean break of structure on the lower timeframes

Only then it starts to look like a decent short.
If price pushes through and holds above this zone, the short idea is off the table.
Bottom line:
I’m not trading levels — I’m trading how price reacts to them.

EURAUD – Watching This One Closely
Price has been pushing up strongly, but zooming out, this is still a pullback inside a bigger downtrend.
Now we’re getting close to a key area around 1.6750–1.6820 —
this is where the last move down started, so it’s not just another level.
On the lower timeframe, price is still moving cleanly higher.
No reason to fight it yet.
So for me, this is not a sell right now.
I’m waiting for:

  1. signs of slowing down
  2. or a clear break of structure on the lower timeframes

If that shows up, then it becomes interesting for shorts.
If not, I stay out.
Most people will try to sell just because “it’s resistance.”
That’s usually where they get run over.
I’d rather wait for price to prove it first.

GBPAUD – This is where most people get it wrong
Price pulled back into a clean resistance area around 1.9250–1.9300.
That part is obvious.
What’s not obvious is how to actually trade it.
Most people see resistance and jump straight into a sell.
Sometimes it works. Most of the time — they get run over.
Here’s the way I look at it:
I’m not selling the level.
I’m watching how price behaves inside the level.
When price comes into the zone, I want to see:

  1. the move slowing down
  2. signs of rejection
  3. buyers struggling to push higher

Then comes the important part:
a clear break of structure on the lower timeframe
That’s the shift. That’s where the idea becomes valid.
And even then — I’m not chasing the break.
I wait for a small pullback that fails.
That’s the entry.
If you missed it, you missed it.
Jumping in late is how good setups turn into bad trades.
I’m not trading levels.
I’m trading the reaction to them

Watching GBPCFH closely.
Price is sitting right at a key level after a clean pullback into supply.
Daily trend is still bearish — this looks like potential continuation.
Not jumping in yet.
I want to see a clear break below support + proper retest.
If that happens, this could turn into a very clean short.
No break = no trade.
Let’s see how price behaves here.

CHFJPY – clean level, clean idea
Price swept liquidity and pushed back into a key level around 199.00.
That area flipped from support to resistance.
Now it’s all about reaction.
If price rejects this level and breaks lower → continuation is in play.
If it holds above → no trade.
Simple.
Waiting for confirmation.

NZDJPY
Price is sitting around 91 after a clean move down on the daily.
Looks more like a pause before continuation, not something I’d try to guess in the middle.
For me this is a breakout trade only.
If we break below 91 with some strength:
Entry around 90.95
Stop above 91.40
Targets:
90.20
89.50
and lower if momentum kicks in
If instead price pushes up and breaks 91.35:
Only then I’ll start considering longs, and only after a retest
Main point here — no trades inside the range.
Either it breaks and goes, or you stay out.
