One last post from me what I meant on Dax and moves:



That is exactly what makes trading dax so profitable. I can see at least two good entries long on the bottom. Pays of lots of SL hits before. Pyramiding perfect. Unfortunately not my trading style, haha. Look how thin the orderbook is on main frankfurt time. See the jumps? Currently short signal at Dax CFD 23034. I'm really impressed- somehow of the DAX. I know some pros they say: Dax is a hell of trend monster sometimes.

Yes short a good call with failure to make a new high

1. FDAX volumetric data are real directly from EUREX (I mean main DAX FUTURE that needs almost 40k € for 1 contract) every minute, every hour, every day.
I suppose no retail trader can trade this beast, unless you are a millionaire or billionaire, while FDXM (mini) and FDXS (micro) are simple copy of the main DAX FUTURE. I verified many times/days these data with EUREX database, they are the same, Always the same.

2. But this means nothing, as you cant see exactly who is buying or selling, as I wish. I mean if ideally I wish to follow UBS HEDGE FUND (example) I cant see in detail if they are longs and for example GOLDMAN SACHS HF is short. I only see total volumes in TF I choose. but it's very difficult to trade this way on intraday basis, at least for me as I dont have too much time to stay every second, or minute in front of PC.
Then you can easily see that 2k/3k buy volumes on FDAX M10/M15 may rapidly become 4k/5k on sell side just after few minutes as happened last monday.
2k volumes on FDAX lower TF I consider an alarming volume that can change or accelerate an intraday trend.

3. I dont see a real problem on slippage, even on FDXS, while on FDXM/FDAX even on turbulent market phase EUREX spread is very tight, ther's so much liquidity, I guess for a retailer. I cant say the same for DAX CFD because it depends on your BANK/BROKER.
DAX CASH INDEX is strictly linked to DAX FUTURE but it's a different financial instrument, as volumes (DAX CASH INDEX has no volumes in principle, unless you consider the total volumes of aLL XETRA DAX 40 Companies) and spread.

4. No I dont use pyramiding. Ever. Maybe rarely I could add on same direction DAX CFD to FDXM or FDXS and viceversa.

5. STOP LOSS is a very challenging point.
And it's very personal issue, I mean it strictly linked to how much capital you have on your trading account, your way to handle a drawdown, if you trade for living or if you are a gambler or a cold head trader...and so on.
The erratic nature/behaviour of DAX lead to catch many stops in intraday even if you are on the right side in a wider perspective, sometimes the stops are even catched on multiday Horizon, and just after price go suddenly on your dead position…. They are masters to suck your blood from your positions…..
I dont use stops, or better say I take the losses when is inevitable, possibily smallest possible, but sometimes heavy losses (look at my journal last friday) but Im overcapitalized as trading account, I dont use 100% of my bullets, often well below 10% sometimes 30/50%. I learned to stay calm when everything is going against you, but it's easier if you are trading with small and minimum part of your bullets.

In short Im only a Survivor here, it's very difficult to trade for living here, as TRADING is in principle against human nature and in the end TRADING is only the art of waiting, waiting to enter, waiting to close, waiting to take a decision…..and most of us, me included are impatient……

Thanks for your insights. From my perspective I scalp a lot. I do that to avoid huge drawdowns und I position also with multiple layers. Fun fact: even when DAX is so wild trending, stops are taken very often and reduce my risk (i take the opposite). Funny enough my performance is net positive even with mainly counter trade- but it makes no fun. really annoying sometimes and sometimes quite big drawdowns. I don't like the domination of feeling: one big player shoots the Dax around. The ATR is good but the trading inside the ATR is very poor/low unfortunately. I heard of some professional that "volume insight" / access is key on Dax to get ahead. They anticipate the next move due to imbalance.

I hope I can contribute a bit in future to trading Dax. I have currently lots of other analysis on my radar. Thanks for posting, Brixen.

Yes Handy, plenty of chance, win and loose, short and longs.....we are into CASINO trading age!!!
and do you know who always wins into a CASINO????: the Master and the House always win.......we can only pick up the crumbs they leave us!!!

Her a perfect example how the market rewards you for being patient and killing you going counter: see the low 22860 till 22980 - 130 points straight through. No retrace for wrong shorties. nothing. of course internal retrace a bit but i expect may be not even 10 points. And then you have times where it kicks you out a lot... very stressy to trade that way. What I can say is desastrous: breakout play out of range on DAX. costs a lot of slippage and you can get a lot of fake outs- exept you enter may be later in a range but then you need to know: a move is definetely coming. Not my game.

But you can see that clear trend trading is getting rewarded strongly, even with adding positions aggressively because you almost have no retrace more than 30% of the move itself. -Desastrous for counter trade (my play field) - so I have respect on dax.

1st serious attempt to go down was rejected by the key level....we'll see what will happen at 2nd retest (if there will be) later during US session

If you look at yd chart on current page, it was clear that price was suspended on the air.....without a solid base below.
This morning we are back on the earth...for now.
Obviously it's easier to look the scenario after the fact..............

1 day gap up, next day gap down......I cant remember how many gaps they left open and then filled last days.....it's a circus here!

I always hold DAX CFD long 21893 and 1 FDXS short 23253. Probably today I will close both positions ahead of the weekend, securing my gains.

The official open seems in gap down but into a pottential support zone. We'll see....

Anyway I have 2 exact price in my mind, 2 key level watched this current week.

22350 zn DAX CASH INDEX price (a sort of double bottom)

22777 DAX FUTURE price

both imho are sensible levels that will react immediately at 1st touch
