But that is why we test, right? To see if a plan can unfold as we thought or not. It is sad that so many people have downloaded the EAs and only a couple have cared to share results...we need meaningful extended results to try and figure out if we are wasting our time or not.

The market always chases any strategy, so it's good to mix it up... Today I was doing pretty well, but by the end of the day it almost went negative and hit stop on 6 trades, I’ll leave it set as a single entry.

Results for 23/24 using the Multi. The latest EA also seems to have the issue of %risk sizing resolved as the losses are around 110 (my demo was 11000 when I turned the V2 EA off)

The V2 one had a bad week last week as XAU began rising. Chris wrt your point about recovery, the V2 recovered from a low of 7600 to over 12000 at one point. The issue is that prolonged impulse moves don't work with mean regression systems as a rule. Let's see how this V3 plays out.

yesterday i make whit V3 over 900$ at 100.000$ demo FTMO account.i use 0.2% risk.trading start am 5.00 broker time ,max DD 1.7%

That's the unfortunate reality. Look at what happened to the james forum, it's completely dead even after making the EA letting everybody figure it out. Your thread is still vibrant enough where contributions are happening here and there.

I just downloaded the EA by RealBank, what I don't understand is why nobody is backtesting the method. Everybody is so focused on forward-testing. Maybe I missed some posts where everybody decided to forward test every EA but the most logical step to me seems like backtesting first, if profitable/promising results, than forward test. Everybody seemed to have jumped the gun so maybe I missed a memo or smth.

I am in the process of backtesting and will contribute as soon as the results finish. This will be definitive: Should everybody trade the method or figure something else out.

The results are in. And they are pretty conclusive.

EA Settings: Everything Default, only changed to MultiBands Mode
Symbol: XAUUSD
Timeframe: M30
Period: 1/1/2025 - Current
Modeling: Every Ticks

I'll be direct and honest about the results: It has potential but far from it. It's not tradeable by any means. Even if you do see any profits in your forward tests, overtime the results/PnL will converge to breakeven at best.

Why not test other settings: Let's say I test with different input parameters, on different timeframes and different symbols. Even if I do find a profitable symbol, timeframe or input settings the strategy itself is fragile. Why? Because a robust strategy gives profit either way. It does not have to be a clean equity curve, but it needs to be profitable* and the current results suggest potential not profitability.

Do we loose hope: NO. The strategy is unique and clearly has some periods of profitability. If we can understand why some periods are better for the EA than others, the strategy can be enhanced. For instance, in the image shown above, the equity curve had an upward trend in 5-15-2025. WHY? What caused this? Was it volatility? Was it something fundamental-related? What were the market conditions like? Answers to such questions will lead you to improve the strategy.

The hardest part is now not overfitting the strategy. We know everything about it. It's been tested one time. Each time we test the strategy, the higher the chance of overfitting because we're changing something to it.

However, realistically speaking, nobody is going to be bothered enough to do any kind of research. And that's not a disrespect to the members, it's the unfortunate but true reality. If someone can surprise me, I am sure that chris will be extremely encouraged to share more of his wisdom.

A lot of the work required in making a strategy profitable is not the idea behind it, it's testing it over and over and over again. It's all statistics. Everything I am telling you is the "secret" of why some people are profitable. It's not because they have "better" strategies. It's because they actually put an enormous amount of work in analyzing their strategy, critiquing it, stress-testing it, researching it. Chris has been doing this visually, members are doing this from forward-testing. But a shortcut is to simply analyze the backtest behavior.

I will do whatever I can to help, I encourage everybody else to do the same.

Thanks for your interest amvt...I think your insights are warranted. This is a process and I believe we are still working through it.

I would encourage you to run more tests without default settings, not to try and fit to a certain chart or TF, because the settings we have implemented in the Multi Band EA are robust and give options for trade management within (as you describe) a fragile system. The system performs well in certain environments and I believe we have the tools within the EA to master those conditions while limiting to a large extent the environment where performance breaks down.

Yesterday (a few posts back) I said the Regular EA took a nose dive and wanted to keep the test going to see if it can pull back. I took a look at the results from Feb. 02 to today and found that my impression of how the EA was performing was not accurate. I will post the results of forward testing this EA from Feb. 02 to today. I was pleasantly surprised...funny how you can think that things are not panning out and then you look at the actual numbers and find that impressions without facts are sometimes deceiving.

While the graph has fluctuation it is (IMHO) still doing quite well. I think the EA still has merit and definitely deserves more time to run.

The james thread is not dead for me LOL
I did re-try the EA last week again and it is not working...it is not taking trades and seems a bit buggy...IDK...
I was using the MT4 version but I do have a MT5 platform running now so I will be testing it again with the MT5 EA...did you post that one???

Yes I found with the OG method it recovered very well once the main underlying XAU buying cooled down

Yesterday I traded with it until the market closed and, to my surprise, at the end of the session it was set to open multiple orders where a single stop took all the profit, so I started testing the function to disable trades at a defined profit. I strongly believe in market manipulations, so the sooner you get out of the market, the better. I have already traded other profitable bots that returned the profit in 3 to 4 months, not only with bots but also in manual trading, where the market learns your moves and starts to take you down. One of the manual trading strategies is on D1, but regardless of the timeframe, it is strongly manipulated over time. What will make you resilient and profitable is risk/return, considering at least a 1/3 ratio.

I will share my perception and experience with the market and bots. The reality of backtesting and backtesting on demo accounts doesn't even reflect 50% of actual trading. I have been testing bots for over 4 years, and during this time, knowing this, I always chose to test them on a real account, more specifically a cents account, which already gives you a guarantee and reflects trading reality more accurately, and if there are losses, they won’t be too significant. Speaking of the bot itself, during this period I only traded with one that brought me consistent profit for 4 months. I don’t know about your experiences, but the less risk and the more protection you have in trading, the better, and the less time you are exposed is also a differentiating factor.

I see great potential in this expert and in the strategy itself. Believe me, if the feature of defined stops for capital or gains is implemented, it will become profitable in the long run.

They just manipulated an entry lol, that's how the game goes...

By the way, when I look at an SMC indicator and the candle clearly touched the 220 moving average, this kind of movement is a sell inducement and right after that they push everything up; you could say it's a type of manipulation.

I have it set to close at EOD 23:55

It will be interesting to see your results. I gather you have set a Max daily profit and a Max daily loss to stop trading...is that right?

I know what you mean about them targeting us...it is almost like they set one person/bot to just your account and run it into the ground.....I have been a stout conspiracy theorist for a good 30 years......LOL

I was using more operations per signal but decided to change, but this is relative, it can be either good or bad. It's more to reduce risk when it comes to a real account, yes, and to set a maximum loss and also a maximum profit. I want to see if it will work as stop points in trading; I hope it does.

It's surreal how they follow you. When they catch on to your trading method, I always traded at the same time and with the same type of analysis. It worked well for 2 months, but after a while, following this same strategy, every entry would just kick me out of the trade. It was with currency pairs and not gold... but the method was the same. I'll check if I still have the screenshots and post them here.

This option in Version 2, even when I hit the maximum stop for orders, still ends up positive, but it closed almost at 0x0, where I decided to switch to trading by signal.
Another change I made is to keep version 2 only on the current trend, and version 3 buying and selling. I just saw the break-even and partial close working and found it more interesting.

As per your screen shot...I thought that was to allow several different trades at one time or say a buy and sell at the same time.

I like the partial close as it pockets profits faster (which is why I have refined this method so much...to get in and out faster and more options for entries too) and if it hits SL it's not such a hit. At this time I am not using any other action at the midline.

If there is such a blatant attack from your broker I was wondering if using two or three brokers and revolve your trading within the brokers so they might not catch on...LOL
