Today’s Bias: Long

• Buyers fully dominated 4900 from early Asia, creating two main long zones. The first zone is the strongest, supported by the Asia close low.
• My only short plan is a fake breakout to Asia High, and it was respected. The other short scenario is if the bias fails: flip short if 4910 breaks, then look for continuation setups.
• I couldn’t identify a clear Asia close high or low today, so I marked a wide box for now. I’m assuming it supported the first long zone, but the close was indecisive and neither side was respected. Maybe one of them gets respected in pre‑NY.

Consider the max drawdown you have left as your total capital. Adjust your risk off that, especially on gold.

If you have 50k accounts, your max DD is 5k (the 10%), so adjust your trades on that. Think now of it as if you have a 5K account.

1% risk = (your lotsize x your stop loss should be max 1%, or 50dollar!!!) So if your SL is 200points (20dollar), you can open a trade with 0.02 lots.
If your bias is right you can scale up on pullbacks but anything bigger as opening entry is just straight up gambling and you might as well go to a casino where you'll have more fun.

If you think that'll take too long, well, that's the thing. Don't aim for quick gains, aim for consistent profit and pay-out while minimizing risk. Your Prop Firm doesn't want you to make big gains, it wants you to show you can manage risk.

edit: Do not forget to take partial profits along the way when intermediate targets are reached. Gold is heavily influenced by macro fundamentals, meaning that anything that happens on earth involving USD or security, can swing gold the other way. Keep that in mind.

Thanks a lot for this very sound advice. I don't mind taking it slow at all, I want to ensure I pass and yeah your right I might have over-risked and supported those bad habits so its good I've learnt that lesson early on

also just saw your edit and that is exactly what led me to an 8% loss, i risked 1% for a 2% gain... and even though I was in profit for most of these trades (atleast 1:1 RR), gold swung back towards my SL which I don't usually move... I got swept and then TP hit

Yeah the risk is a very important factor in your success . Gold easily makes multiple 50 dollar or 500point move every day, so that's easily 100 to 250 dollars you can take as profit if you can keep risk reasonable. Keeping the risk low gives you time to breathe and do other things while you let the market do it's thing instead of being glued to charts and burning yourself out.

In the case you start fresh and you would have that max DD of 5k again, this is the play. Not gonna sugarcoat it here, coming back from -8% is not easy, because you have like 1k max DD left, so you are gonna have to be very patient in your trades and aim for good risk:reward trades while keeping that risk low.

That being said, even on a 0.02 to 0.05 position, you can reclaim 100 dollars profit easily on a day to day basis.

The bounce was exaggerated as got h5 support but not tf ones still and still in a round top formation . Watching itf it fails to correct forther for better support to bounce much better . Care

First trade of the day was bit of a range scalp based off the rejection at the previous 1h candle high and following the trend which seemed likely to me to be London's pre NY move. I'll often place two trades in situations like this where targets are small as my win rate has been quite high for them and doubling the lot size makes it feel like less of a waste of time. Waiting for NY now.
