Hi, I am working with Claude.ai (sonnet 4.5) (just the free normal tier). I have a whole process and it's quite recursive and time-consuming at times. But once you do it enough you end up picking up some nuances/quirks that make the whole process pretty smooth and (most importantly) repeatable.

Hi Realblank

If you feel that is doable then sure, 1 EA would be great. So as I understand it it would have 2 sections that are able to be activated or de-activated for the preferred method some one wants to trade. Would you have to put the indicators in twice or one set of indicators would work for both methods by just changing the inputs of the indis? (do you think you could add 2 more ATR bands to the ATR bands indicator? ( or can someone else modify it please)

I would hope that we do not lose the functionality of the EA we have now.

Then would we need a different magic number if running both on different charts and a different Comment also.?

I would not use the recovery aspect...just what I laid out in post 278

Hi Chris, working on it right now. Yes, I will add 2 more ATR bands for that ATR indicator section matching what you posted. As for your question about the ATR indicator implementation between modes, you would simply change the inputs (i.e. put the other band multipliers to 0) or I could simply add an input that would make it so that the EA automatically detects when you're using the SINGLE BAND mode and would NOT show/draw the other extra bands (even if they have multiplier values). I will try my best not to lose any of the current EA functionality and make sure we get the exact same results as before.

And indeed, the process can be like this: if you have just one account then you can run two EA instances on two different charts and make sure you have different magic numbers and comments (if you want to differentiate through comments), the other option is if you have two accounts then you could just run one in each account (this would make it somewhat easier to see the individual net results).

Perhaps in the future I could add daily and net pip/$ counters (or any other statistics) that would make it easier to see the individual EA instance results (but I'm sure in a sense some would think it may be unreliable).

That sounds like a plan Realblank..please take your time and go at a pace you are comfortable with...

It occurred to me while reading your post that we do still have your original EA with its intact functionality.........LOL

Thanks for your efforts on these. Really appreciated. Can you please have a look at the lot sizing issue with this. I had tried the dollar risk setting to 100 but it seems to just use a static lot size regardless of the point risk for the trade

MA Type 0 is Simple Averaging and 2 is Smoothed. This does not mean so much. But are we using multiplier 2 or 3. That is important. Have I not understod this right??

Sorry, I don't understand how the EA works. The local swing SL is false, stop loss pips 9000, it does this in the backtest, but not in the forward test.

Ah! I think I see the issue. Correct me if I am wrong but the broker you are live testing is different than the broker you are back testing, right? I say this because as can be seen in your screenshots the price on the backtest appears with 3 decimal places, while on the other it appears with 2! So indeed, it's a "pip/pip value" problem! That is, "9000" on the 3 decimal broker ends up giving you the correct "90$" however on the 2 decimal broker that 9000 end up giving you (I believe) "9000$" (there might also be other broker differences), and in fact the losses you see do not appear to actually be "SL" losses (as the comment should be different) further supporting that the SL is way too big to even be hit.

So here is what you can do: I believe you can change the SL amount to "90 pips" in your 2 decimal broker (I might be wrong, I would need to see the pip value that is being detected (shown on the panel), and you can simply verify when the EA places a trade.) Or you can alternatively use the Pip Value Override input, you would input something like "XAUUSD: 0.01" and keep your 9000 pip SL.

Sorry it's definitely a bit confusing at times (even for me) and will try to make it a lot easier and automatic on this new version of the EA.

Great topic, to everyone involved, and to RealBlank for the effort put in. I have been trading gold for a few years and I intend to test the EA. One suggestion, perhaps for the sake of organization, is to put only the important files on the main page, with sections: Indicators and sets, robot and set. I believe this is the difficulty everyone has in being on the same page regarding tests.
