Yeah Vershire asked about multiple trades but did not update his EA so I am not sure if he is still interested in this thread...

Agree. I made that backtest too. However I don't believe in the MT4 backtest. I stopped using it years ago. If the logic seems right to me, then I go for it. Forward test is the thing for me.

The adding function is a good thought.

He suddently gave the EA a smart name and no mt4 file. I guess it will become for sale somewhere in the near future. Sorry if I am wrong.

If this is garbage I'll remove it but just throwing some ideas,
I've put a 4ma (high) (Teal) with levels 250 (Yellow)
4ma (low) 9Teal) with levels -250 (Yellow)
I've highlighted the middle band line red dotted,
general idea, open trade 1 sell
stop at yellow and to be followed down accordingly
when price closes below centre line, red dotted (A), move stop to follow 4ma high
The rest is self explanatory,
be blunt!!!

Suppose it could be improved, Chris was throwing the BE out and trying to see a way to minimise the stoploss loss, I thought of BE when price crossed the red centre line, few things to chew over, D

As a quick throw together, using the yellow ma level overall wasn't too bad, caught some moves, in general, if we can get the stoploss beyond our entry were now running zero risk, D

Greetings to all,

I have successfully created an EA that I believe correctly encapsulates the whole strategy. The only problem is that it is for MT5 so I will indeed have to convert to MT4 for you guys. From what I've seen/understand it correctly captures all the logic and functionality.

Here is a Strategy Tester Video of the EA in action as well as the results since the start of the Month:

This testing has revealed (as many have already noticed) that the strategy does AMAZING in "Ranging Markets" and can even absorb some SL losses without problem. However, the strategy takes a BIG HIT when there is a BIG TREND as the SL losers start to add up and eat into profits (this is clearly seen in the video at the end).

I hope we can all analyze the charts and think of a way to somehow AVOID these big trends or create some sort of rule or something where we only TRADE WITH THE TREND in these cases.

I have added max consecutive SL losses and an activated time filter that we can also play around with.

Hello Realblank and thankyou for your sterling efforts, sure the rest of the gang agrees too, could you put the EA up for the community to test as Vershise kindly has done, I'm going through a visual strategy test on the indicator to try and find a trait, something of an adaption we can add to be on the ranging side and trend when necessary,
Chris, can you please give us your blessing and not straying from the point, D

Hello thank you. Yes, as we speak, I am converting to MT4/MQ4 for you guys to test. I do not have MT4 and might need to either download it or rely on you guys testing it. I'll upload when I am done. (Beware since I am a new member, I have moderator reviewing for my replies).

Okay this is the MT4 EA version. I tested it a little in the strategy tester I hope I properly converted it from MT5. I know for a fact some drawing features are not working correctly (like the trade lines and the markers) but the trades and general logic looks fine. I recommend testing with defaults in the strategy tester, and if you are using the visual mode then please have Accumulate With Limits as the Drawing Mode, and if you aren't then please just use Rolling Window with minimum bars (i.e. 100 (default) per se) as Rolling Window is a lot faster (less bars is faster).

Let me know what you guys think/find and/or if it is working correctly.

Soooo!
I am a little excited...I may have cracked the code to this system...lol

Just went through yesterdays chart and did the analysis using SL as I discussed in post 89 yesterday. To be honest I did not expect good results.

Here is the result from yesterday using SL idea from post 89
35 trades (I must have missed one yesterday)
20 winners
1 loser (EOD trade)
14 SL
total pips gained 1200

To compare to yesterday
34 trades
27 winners
3 losers
4 SL
total pips gained 1302

This is so exciting and revealing because while the new result is lower we have a much better DD situation which I am not sure would have done well on a live account.

Also I would assume because we would be using varying lots per trade we might even see the result higher. Remains to be seen.

Hopefully the coders could make an option in the EAs to have SL at the dots or as I described in post 89.

Did something of my own yesterday, I ported the ATR channels and PTL indicators to TradingView so that I could look at how it gives signals more easily. Can't run MT4 or MT5 on my laptop, I'll have to use another device running Windows, but yeah - this is how it looks (attached image).

The channels do look slightly different when I compare them with the screenshots sent in the forum, but it could be because of scale and zoom differences as well, so I'll work with this for now, and will probably trade XAUUSD M1 on my prop challenge with this tomorrow. I'll attach the PineScript code for the indicator as well for anyone who likes to dabble in custom TV indicators.

Can you implement the SL idea in your EA please, I believe it has real merit.

I think for simplicity it should place a SL just behind the dot.

Hi Chris, I do want to implement it. Can you explain the SL idea further please.

I do sort of understand from the other post but just want to verify somethings.

Also would you say just adding the SL just behind the dot (like with a buffer) is good or should we actually do something more like looking back a small X bars and finding the high/low point or like local peak? Just explain what you want and I’ll make sure to add it!

I've only overfly this thread so far...

But did you actually execute and realise all these trades you're showing here?
Or are they all just examples of trades in hindsight?

I've experimented a lot with channels like TMA and have repeatedly found that they recalculate!
In hindsight, they might be wonderful trades, but they're a disaster in the Strategy Tester.

If you have NRP Channel indicators and would like to test them with your strategy, send me the MQL4/MQL5 files and I'll build an Expert Advisor (EA) from them.

can you please share the template with MA please, i could not able to figure out which MA its is(SMA,EMA etc.,) also i have tried them all but my lines are diffrenet and far awat from TMA, it is not like what you have shown in the image, Its my Request.

3 MA smoothed and set to high, add levels 250
3 MA smoothed and set to low, add levels -250
This was only a quick "put together" to find some solution to place a stoploss, have a tinker with the inputs and let us know your results, D
