Yes I see the counters for trades sent / transaction. But 'server requests' covers all activity from terminal to server i.e. trades & pending orders being opened, modified & closed.

Most companies will have a policy & restrictive measures in place to avoid hyperactivity to protect their servers stability. All hidden in the T&C small print of course

.

Obviously I can make an educated guess but thought it might be of benefit for others to be aware & get used to testing with this in mind before going live & then face this hurdle. So a counter that could display the number of server requests & even act as a possible limiter to further EA activity at a user defined number?

I see that you’re concerned about the broker flagging your account for hyperactivity. In my experience, most brokers allow around 2,000 journal lines per day.
A journal line can include opening a position or modifying the TP or SL. If the expert advisor does not send frequent sequences of TP/SL modifications and only opens and closes orders, I believe you won’t face this issue.
You can check the Logs folder in your terminal at:
C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\MetaQuotes\Terminal\xxxxxx\logs
Review the log files on normal trading days and see the average number of lines. Each day has its own log file.
This information may already be known to you, but at least this is my perspective on the topic.

temprary solutions are:
E/1, R/x, T/x

E; expert timer ... E=5 s = as if there is no expert for 5 seconds,, (no TP$ update plus other calcs, no close etc . . )
R/5,,,,,,,,, R=5, as if there i no RSI send orders

T/13 for example. . . . .ignore 12 ticks then take tick #13 and so on . .

we hav also cTrades, cTransact , , , up to this moment ,, they are just counters . . when many order was send/closed/deleted/modified etc for mt5 . .

my question is there any code or special fucntion for server messages?

Hello omaramir,

Yes you are right with my area of concern. As I envisage many possibilities with Macd-rsi's wonderful EA. Just want to be aware of & demo within realistic parameters.

As trading manually up till now non of these restrictions have been of any concern. Just trying to avoid being blind sided when real money is involved. And not to waste time demoing in such a way that does not transfer over to live accounts.

Are you saying that I just need to count the lines of my Metatrader log, that is what brokers are referring to?

As your example '2,000 journal lines' per day. Journal/server count is the daily log entries?

I take what you say.

Sorry I do not know the answer to your question. Just told that all server requests from each client from each account is strictly capped.

Just tying to work creatively within whatever limitations now, rather than face possible problems in the future.

yes , exactly , most brokers set the limit to 2000 lines daily. you need to open the log file ( many editors have line numbers ) , so you can see how many lines are there in your daily logs.

one suggestin , is to write to your support department in your broker company and ask them about this limits to make sure you will be safe when you move to live environment.

Whilst I don't want to make the expert more complicated, I do have a suggestion that I think would be worth considering.

I have noticed over the past few days testing the expert that it quite frustratingly stops trading when in "O" trend direction and when above 70 RSI. Often the flip to "O" happens after rangebound trading when you can become unbalanced with your positions, for example today I ended up being heavily short BTC before a big impulsive move away, and those really large candle moves, can often continue for quite some time (especially on the volatile pairs like bitcoin). When the RSI goes above 70 and trades are stopped this can be fatal for the account if you are caught out heavily overweight in the wrong direction. You have to be in front of the PC and manually enter trades which can be frustratingly slow to avoid this.

I think an option to set RSI trading cut off point (perhaps in the RSI settings panel) with a default value of 70 would be helpful. Then if you want to turn it off completely and allow the expert to trade at all times you could set it at 100. I personally would be quite happy to set it at 85 or even 90, because with the "worst" button selected the expert will not trade unless price is moving in that direction anyway. I really think this could help avoiding those big drawdowns. I know there is always a flip side to a decision, but at least to have the option to change it would be great.
