I still see it a down trend. In a macro economy sense, China just raised rate this morning, thus will cool down its economy including world's. Thus equity should go down a bit as well.
Just a bit of analysis ..

Normally, the big movement would start after 10:00 AM EST. All the options barriers are expired.

Interesting. After closing yesterday, Fannie Mae announced that they were not issuing any August benchmark notes (I'm sure because nobody would buy them). Now this morning, Fannie Mae is up almost 1%.

There is definitely something happening.

Dodd Meets With Bernanke
Politicians have started turning their attention to the Fed's role as the market upheaval continues. Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd, a Connecticut Democrat running for his party's presidential nomination, meets with Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson today to discuss responses to ``ongoing turmoil'' in the markets.
Dodd will have a press conference at about 11 a.m. in Washington after the meeting.
