I'm pretty close to calling it a year as far as trading goes. I'll probably be done for 2025 by the end of this week. One thing I've added to my trading plan is that I lever UP, i.e. I add contracts aggressively if the trade is moving in favor of my position, and I cut aggressively if it moves quickly against me. Before the roulette epiphany and fixed bar interval trading, I'd often do the exact opposite: If the trade moved against me I'd add to my position, and if the trade went in my favor I'd move my trailing stop too close or move my take profit toward my entry and exit with a quick but small profit. The result was my profits were often small in comparison to my losses. I'd often wipe out several days or even weeks of profits in a single session, and sometimes even a single trade.

Fixed bar trading to can fix you and your trading if you let it.

I'm not sure what you are asking.

If I'm long, and price is moving higher, I buy more contracts. If I'm short, and price is declining, I sell short more contracts.

I use a device like this to send in the market orders:

Mark Douglas: Trading Psychology Essentials

Mark Douglas's teachings are foundational in trading psychology, emphasizing that mindset and emotional control are far more critical to consistent success than any specific technical analysis or trading system. His work, particularly in Trading in the Zone, helps traders build the mental structure needed to operate effectively in an inherently uncertain market.

5 Fundamental Trading Truths
These truths form the core of the probabilistic mindset a successful trader must adopt.

1 Anything can happen: The outcome of any single trade is uncertain, no matter how good the setup looks.

2 You don't need to know what is going to happen next to make money: Consistency comes from executing a positive-expectancy edge over a series of trades, not from perfect prediction.

3 There is a random distribution between wins and losses for any given set of variables that define an edge: A strategy with a 60% win rate doesn't mean you'll win 6 out of the next 10 trades; losses can cluster randomly.

4 An edge is nothing more than an indication of a higher probability of one thing happening over another: Your edge is simply a statistical advantage that plays out over time, not a guarantee for the current trade.

5 Every moment in the market is unique: No two market patterns or setups are exactly the same, which means you must constantly assess the "now moment opportunity flow" and avoid projecting past outcomes onto the present.


7 Principles for Consistent Trading

To successfully internalize the Five Truths and close the "profit gap" (the difference between a system's theoretical performance and the trader's actual results), Douglas advocates for these disciplines:

1 Know Your Edge: Clearly define your statistical advantage and the specific criteria for trade selection.

2 Define Risk Before Every Trade: Determine your maximum acceptable loss before entering the position and commit to it.

3 Fully Accept the Risk Before Entering: Mentally accept the loss as a cost of doing business, which builds emotional resilience.

4 Act on Your Edge Without Hesitation: Execute immediately when your predefined conditions appear, avoiding "analysis paralysis" or fear-based hesitation.

5 Take Profits As the Market Makes Them Available: Be flexible and take profits offered by the market, balancing initial targets with current price action.

6 Monitor Yourself for Emotional Mistakes: Cultivate self-awareness to catch when fear, greed, or overconfidence are influencing your decisions.

7 Stick to the Rules Without Expectation: Focus on consistent, disciplined process execution, detached from the outcome of any single trade.

Douglas's ultimate teaching is that the consistency you seek is in your mind, not in the markets. Success is about developing the mental structure to trade without fear, maintain discipline, and objectively think in probabilities.

Excellent, excellent video! He says it so well. I should play that video every week to help keep me going I think the biggest thing that resonates with me is when he talks about the casino and how they don't change anything when someone goes on a winning streak. They know they have the edge over time, so why change.

It has become obvious to me that Dave Scott reads this thread. I do wish he'd reveal to us his FF handle. His two most recent videos are obviously inspired by the main theses of pricebobbing.

I had wanted to book $10K in profits for December and then call it a year. I would easily have reached it but I missed my YM entry at the open. I was in the process of setting the order and I was just a fraction of a second too slow. That is a trading error on my part. All my bad. Afterwards, I felt within myself the temptation to chase the market. Afterall, I "only need $450 more."

A year ago, I'd have chased. Maybe it would have worked out in my favor, but maybe I would have blown the December profits I had accumulated over the past week.

I realized that the artificial and arbitrary $10K goal was starting to take precedence over adhering to my plan and the process. I switched the account to global sim mode, and decided I am done for the year.

If I might ask, all the trades were based on the fixed bar trading plus reversal candles as the video you latest posted regarding NQ and fixed bar trading?

Yes, but you have to consider that when Tradovate counts the number of "trades" it is really counting the number of contracts. There were not 99 set ups since 12/01. I did, however, trade a total of 99 contracts. Also, I will now pyramid into winning positions. I May open a fixed bar trade with just 1 contract, but but the time it hits my take profit, I may have added many more.

I just saw that Tradeday is offering 40% and no activation fee on their evals right now. Since I'm not going to trade my money accounts anymore this year, I'm considering firing up a new Tradeday eval that once passed I can sort of keep simmering on the back burner just in case I degen and blow something up in the new year.

If I do, I might start a journal thread to chronicle the eval over the next week or two.
