at the same time every week. These announcements were used to rig oil prices so that Wall Street
Insiders could have a guaranteed payday twice a week: at the time of that article, the maxim was:
sell the API (the announcement of inventories as monitored by the American Petroleum Institute)
and buy the DOE (the inventories as announced by the U.S. Energy Information Administration,
a branch of the Department of Energy).
Of course, that article (and another one just like it with a similar title, "How To Trade Oil for HFT Idiots 101")
were published on Zero Hedge in 2015, when there was a prolonged recession and crude oil prices kept
gradually declining over a period of several months. Perhaps you'll remember that Kinder-Morgan,
a pipeline company, was in dire straits in 2015 as a result of the decline in oil prices: as the economy went
into decline, there was less economic activity and less need to deliver products, so there was a
shrinking demand for crude oil. Hence, there was less demand for Kinder-Morgan's pipelines,
so they could not charge high fees to their usual clients.

I'm not saying they do this in every recession, but it might be worth your while to monitor
the oil futures prices this week, at those times, to see whether a pattern emerges.
That was the clear message of the article(s) in ZH. (They are now behind a firewall.)
