DislikedWell it seems as if we've been spared the worst of the hurricane Dean, as it barrels up, just south of Jamaica. Not sure if Markam's "fears"or "potential opportunities" of $100 barrel oil may be realized as the path of the hurricane seems to be towards the Yucatan peninsula, so that will probably dissipate Dean substantially before it reaches Mexico.
Electricity has been turned off to preserve the National grid, but DSL Internet connection is holding up and I have my laptop and DSL hooked up to my car battery and a power inverter, ...what can I say, the trade must go on.Ignored

Mexico clears oil rigs as hurricane nears
Might order total well closure
Mexican state oil company Pemex on Sunday evacuated thousands of oil workers from the Gulf of Mexico and warned it might close up to 2.2m barrels a day of crude oil production as the powerful hurricane approached.
Pemex said it was evacuating 13,360 workers – most of its workforce in the area - and that it might order the ”total closure of the oil wells” in the Cantarell oil field and other fields.
http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/96593284-4...0779fd2ac.htmlIf Dean passes over the Yucatan (like it is supposed to) and doesn't lose a LOT of strength, it is going to absolutely destroy the mexican oil production infrastructure. Considering the mess that Pemex is, we are talking years before that production comes back (if it ever does).
