New to MT5 from MT4 - What is going on with range resizing?

Hi Folks, I am just switching to MT5 because there's a huge power usage making MT4 lag terribly on my Task Manage (Windows 10). I use consistent sized rectangles, say 25 pips square, in my analysis. When I move this box around on MT5, though, it resizes. 25 pips and become 30 or 15. Very strange. Same thing with fib ranges. How does one lock the size of a rectangle in MT5? Such a basic issue but so hard to find answers! Thanks in advance.. Steve

What? Do you see a dot in the middle?

That is what works for me, only use MT5 occasionally, however.

Yes. But if I drag it around, the size of the box changes...

To be absolutely clear, it does that even when you drag from the center dot?

Works fine on my side. Dragging the rectangle anywhere and keeping the same pts size.

I really am bored, chatGPT says are you in design/edit mode? Is this bollocks? I've never used MT4/5

What they are
Those little squares — usually eight around the edges (four corners + four mid-sides) and sometimes one in the centre — are the control resize/move handles shown by the MT5/Windows form designer or Visual Basic-style runtime when a control (like a button) is selected in design mode.
Why you’re seeing them
They appear if:

  1. The chart or form is in edit mode (like MT5 “visual mode” or MetaEditor form designer).
  2. You programmatically created a Button control but didn’t call the method to disable “edit state”.
  3. Or the chart window is intercepting the control as a GDI element rather than a runtime UI control.

How to fix
Try one of the following:

  1. Exit design/edit mode
    In MT5, make sure you’re running the script or EA, not editing the dialog.
    In Visual Basic or cTrader-style UI editors, click outside the control area.
  2. Ensure the button is created as runtime, not design-time
    In MT5 MQL5:

Sorry to disappear, friends! Finished trading yesterday and walked outside only to discover something called "sunshine"...

MT5 restarted after computer restart. No effect.
I am running in default "trading" mode. Not edit or design.
No EA's or indicators running.

These are my Chart Properties settings:

Scale settings? I've never adjusted them from default.

I have MT5 on two computers with Windows 10 Pro on one and Windows 11 on the other. The issue happens with both.

I switched to MT5 to MT4 because, all of the sudden, MT4 was lagging terribly and the Task Manager showed huge power usage (though not disck or CPU usage).

Ferru, my cost for an exorcism is one live chicken you're willing to part with... (!)
