Alright I just changed it on my charts. I seem to favor breakout and retests but I hear those are rare? VWAP setups seem beautiful for me but I seem to have confidence issues unless we're in price discovery. I'm still wrapping my head around it. I prefer retests most of the time. Any tips?

I currently don't trade futures... I've been looking for a chance to get in. I'm trading forex and commodities for now as I haven't seen a moderately cheap futures firm. Does the CUM delta work on forex as well? If so I'll try it out

Thanks Blue for his thread and Rick for your answers. As a beginner , could you suggest any tradingview indicator that can help with reading the cumulative delta? So one can start understanding how to applying it for trading the Nasdaq. Can we apply this method ( cumulative delta reading) also for US100 ( CDF). Tks a lot for all what you guys are doing.

Ask yourself What is price rotating around ? Behaviour of Price.
Remember the Close/Settlement is typically where the largest volume comes in.
As you see the Prev Days POC is similar to the close.

Simply some observations that may be helpful to help frame out a trade with whatever setup your using.

I'm seeing it. I wanna ask a question tho... Was the breakout from the IBL valid? We were above both the weekly and monthly VWAP SD so... price discovery yet the daily VWAP and the VP showed price discovery in the opposing direction and the VWAP from the previous days 8:20 open coincided with the retest. Would you have taken it ?

Here's a video on Volume Profile really simplified and it is exactly how I use it.
Chris Drysdale nails it... In this video he uses the NQ as an example....

And Man o Man...I took a quick look at the NQ charts and wholly smokes...Incredible
Using the Vol Profile...Composite and VWAP..

A+ setups jumping off the charts at levels that are known and set before the trading session.
Once you see it you cant unsee it.

I will post up some NQ charts in awhile showing what I see...

The value this video gives you and what I will show is priceless and I mean that wholeheartedly.
This can with a little study put your trading on another level..Its only up to you if you can execute.

Watch the video if you want to step up your game to however far you want to go.

Since this thread is in the Trading Discussion Forum - can I challenge readers to consider adding Sound to their aid their trading decision.

Here we see a normal bounce of VWAP with a bullish move to the upside.

What's different about this move?

A strong Bullish move will be a huge drive of delta to the upside. In this case, it moved 7000 delta in around 45 minutes.
It wasn't large orders sending price higher but thousands of small orders from thousands of traders doing the hard yards.
Now on a chart, you just see a move to the upside with no particular difference to any other move that day.
That's how visually it looked anyway.

However, if you decided to use sound as an extra tool, you would hear "violent machine gunning of orders" in your right ear as the Ask order book was being destroyed with force. Tool I use is PriceSquawk.

Your ears are normally a better judge of direction than your eyesight will ever be
So - thousand's of Buy signals in your right ear drum and high Delta readings = Unlosable trade which I executed.

I also believe that Volume signals need a level to trade from always, so taking this move from VWAP was the level I was looking and took the trade after price moved passed VAL. Trade confirmation of direction was now confirmed.

Thoughts?

Thanks Rick...I dont use it but I know its a very valuable tool.... I've sat in on many of Chris Drysdales trading sessions and there is no mistaking when
tickstrick starts clicking the trade is happening... Bringing our sense of hearing in I think for some may literally be a huge game changer.

Just like those traders in the pit ran on auditory senses... They werent watching candlesticks they were "LISTENING" to the orderflow.

I have toyed with the thought of using tickstrick or pricesquawk....just havent got there yet One never knows !

Nope haven’t gone mad, not yet anyway.

I remember talking to Dave years ago about this while watching the USD/JPY pairs gang up on the rest and break off and head for the border.

If I was sitting at the computer I knew the move was on due to the amount of number crunching my dashboards/indicators were making causing the fan speed to go into overdrive followed by a locked up chart and no way to jump on the move….. my home grown Pitbull indicator was the real cause… awesome programming on my part….

10+ years on and countless laptops later and the same moves still happen and the early warning is the curtains being drawn down into the fan sucking in the oxygen….

Hope you’re well Kev, I know you’ve been going through the mill as we all seem to at some time or other.

A few things you are perhaps missing,,,

Price is always in search of Value...Fair Value and if fair value is found price stays in balance. If buyers and sellers are
not in equilibrium then price will go into discovery/imbalance.

The monthly VWAP is not relevant to the breakdown from the IB low.
What is relevant is the Weekly VWAP and the Session as well as the Vol Profile from NY Prev Day.

First things first tho...forget the VWAPS and lets look at the Prev days IMPORTANT levels.

PDclose and POC hang out together quite often..Why ? because of the volume that comes in at the daily close.
How is price behaving at these levels ? Now when the IB closes Price slices right thru these levels..thats now a sign
of strength.

Add in your session vwap it is showing price in discovery to the shortside,
Add in Weekly vwap and it shows price returning back into value. and comes right back up
and retests the 1SD(VAH) and retests the IB low the VP POC and the PDClose.

You mentioned VWAP anchored to the prev day NY Open ,,but price does BO of the Lower band 1sd
and returns back inside yes...But you need to look at the bigger picture and all of its confluences.

The above chart showing the initial breakout and back into value on the weekly vwap 1SD
it then retests for an A+ setup short...


Now if your asking if I would have tried to jump on the very first candle to BO the 9:35 1m...Nope
There is no way I can trade that initial 1min candle or the close of it. too much risk to put on. No place
for a logical SL.

As I said a few NQ charts that fit right into what Chris Drysdale is talking about in this video.
Highyl highly recommend watching the video...Chris has a great way of explaining things that is easy
to comprehend.

"The market tends to persist in its current behavior rather than

"When price holds or re-enters the VWAP value area, it often
gravitates toward the VWAP. If it moves beyond that level, the next
likely target is the opposite end’s value band."

"When price remains within or returns to VWAP value area, the VWAP
serves as a key magnet. If it fails to break through and accept,
expect a move toward the most recent extreme value band."

LOL ! Thats actually quite good ! THe computer starts whirring , volatility enters the room !

The second diagram, to me imho, is pure Wyckoff Theory, which I understand totally.

Volume I can see visually on the chart using PA and market timing ( expectation ).

Totally Wyckoff yep...I agree when price is in congestion or ranging in an area its simply volume building.
