QUESTION FOR EXPERIENCED TRADERS:
Over the past 2–3 months, I’ve felt that the markets have been getting increasingly difficult to trade each month. Maybe it’s just me, since I only turned consistently profitable earlier this year. Do you also feel the same way? (I’m not talking about gold here—specifically referring to currencies.)

I think this question will also help newer traders—because if they can survive trading through this kind of market phase, it might mean they’ve truly “made it” as trader

I was waiting for more fun, but the EUR/USD seems stuck between 1.1708/00 and 1.1779 and might stay this way all week as there is not much news left on the radar. I'm hoping for a big hand to push us higher, but I'm also ready for a correction lower again as bears seem strong now. Anyway, EUR/USD should be trending higher, but geopolitics might not let it yet!

Its happening to all everyone has losing periods. Not all systems work every time you and might need to find the reason why your strategy doesn't work as it might reached its peak and then change to another system (range trading or trend trading). Following the trend and news is the best way to profit but in ranging periods you must take a different approach and also use other pairs, metals and other markets to hedge your losses.

When/if golds stops going to the moon, i bet a lot of people will lose their hedge.
The only thing i see that makes this market different is how Trump broke the news cycle with his tweets, besides that it's just business as usual.
Summer (if you're in the northern hemisphere) is usually a bit different from the rest of the year in terms of trading, but i don't see how that would break an hedge that was working.

Most likely you had a system that followed a trend and things changed, idk. You have to adapt to market conditions, not expect the market to adapt to your system.

Dear Tab - Js3mwtRc provided very sound advice - he is worth following/listening to

My perspective on your situation is this - are you overthinking it? In my early days of Forex I overtraded way too much - I cut my winning trades short and had a TERRIBLE habit of doubling down on underwater positions - that is a receipe for losing a lot of money - which I did.

My suggestions: 1. Stop trading for 1 week - clear your head
2. Back test your system or strategy - if you cannot back test I challenge you to do this: write down your trading plan/program - can you teach it to someone else? If you can't maybe your system is incomplete
3. Trade the charts not the news/noise - yes I know it's great to be on the right side of a NFP and get 100 pips in minutes but it takes a toll. I believe that on the last NFP the price spiked and by the end of the N&Y session it was within 20 pips of where the NY session started - who lost and who won? My long position was closed for 1/2 but I still had 1 lot left at the EOD - It could have gone the other way as well.

Trading Forex full-time - not for me. Hopefully you'll get back on track. Best wishes
