Cyclic activity is constatly changing and morphing. One of the tools that can visulaize that phenomenon is the wavelet chart
This is daily data and this was posted by Sergey on the TS newsgroup. Yellow zones are the "hottest" cycles and blue the least influential cycles. This is what I mean by the general emphasis on long term cycles and longer investment time frames. The most important cycles depicted here are 200 day plus to over a year. ( Draw a horizontal line through red and yellow areas and read the cycle length on the left) The point though is that cycles come and go, like the sunspot cycle... No one has described a working theory of what causes these shifts in cyclical activity or how to predict the next shift.
