2025 Backtesting Renko, is it possible?

This question has popped up a few times but newer builds of MT4 seem to have made it difficult (maybe not possible) to backtest a offline renko chart in MT4

My Q is , is it possible has anyone done it recently using something paid or otherwise.

I think the problem is that its offline charts and/or non standard timeframes. I think it was possible to test back in 2016 but newer build MT4 now I cannot find anything that will let me do it.

There was a suggestion to change the history file in the history folder (take PC offline) renaming the M1 to M1-backup and then rename the M2 to M1 but I had no joy.

Most grateful for any tried and workable solutions.

It's possible in MT5 by using renko generator and custom symbol.

my EA is MT4 but possibly getting it converted to MT5 is only the way to go.

The Ovo FXT renko builder might be what you are looking for. No financial connection just long time OVO user.

Thank you. Have you used it recently ?

I used to use OVO but then the newer MT4 builds made it no longer work but if oyu have then I will give it another go.

No I haven’t used the builder sorry. Hopefully another trader can chime in, or you can contact the vendor.

Sorry, just to understand better. You want to test your Expert Advisor (EA) in the Strategy Tester using a Renko chart?

yes test my EA with a renko chart. It works realtime on a renko chart but I cannot backtest
