I am actually using the M15 intervals. I might not have made that clear. I use the 9:30 - 9:45 EST bar as the bar that price needs to breakout from and then I stay on that timeframe for trailing the SL. Looking forward to the video!

+17 pips

Fixed bar, using larger fib structure for enhanced reward:risk, i.e. using the contextual trading range for take profit rather than limiting it to a function of the fixed bar's range. Chart is M30

For day trading, I think the idea of the "trailing stop loss" is on par with the "every trade must be a 2:1 profit to loss" ... both sound good on paper, and have helped countless vendors sell trading courses and discord memberships, but despite sounding good on paper, are flat out wrong.

I am now of the mind that every day trading plan would be more profitable if the plan included a take profit as a function of the current day's range, and if that results in a reward to risk of less the 1:1, so be it.

I think 2:1 on a consistent basis is unicorn trading.

I'm not saying such opportunities don't exist. I'm saying that such opportunities do not make themselves available on a consistent basis to any particular trading plan in such a way as to be tradable by most retail traders.

The virtue of using fib extensions as money management tools is that they self adjust to current market conditions and in general will increase the probabilities of a take profit because the take profit is reasonable based on the currentrange.

When I first was introduced to Stacey Burke 3 or 4 years ago, he was big on "50 pips a day." And those 50 pips were usually made as a result of one trade. I no longer watch him regularly. I wonder if he is still on with the 50 pips a day thing? Watching the EURUSD and GBPUSD these days, I wonder if 50 pips a week wouldn't be more reasonable an expectation?

In DAX, it's not so strange to achieve a ratio of 1:1.50 or even 1:2.

Much less "back and fill" in the DAX than the US Indices.

If I were trading from the UK rather than the USA I'd be 100% all-in on the DAX.

These posts where I am trading forex futs should be read in the context of money management using larger targets. While I have a fixed bar I use on them, the market cycle (breakout, trend/channel, trading range) dictate the set ups, and the fibs, as with my fixed bar and reversal bar set ups, dictate the money management.

Rummaging around on the USA websites for prop firms, this caught my eye. Just like a CFD account outside of USA, it seems you do not pay a monthly fee but simply a one off fee ( Lightning Funded Account). Could this firm be a challenger for the CFD firms touting no monthly fees?

To give an update where I am at:

I am still not confident in my strategy or ability to follow the plan. Some days/weeks I've got it and some I have not.
I've blown a few accounts due to my inability to stick to the plan, and now I'm going back to demo until I can behave like a professional.

Hard way to make an easy living

For example, the Ym 1min orb had 5 days of losses in a row and my brain just went NOOOOOOOO.
5 days isn't crazy in the grand scheme of a year but in real money its HARD work to watch and see that happen to your account....

Hi T, I've been using a Tradefiy account (the $79 50k acc) as they allow you to trade DAX with Eurex subscription for an extra $23 per month. Only heard good things about them re payouts and you can use Tradovate/ninja/tradingview/most platforms which is a plus over some others

Going back to SIM when you realize you're on a TILT spree is probably the first sign that you are taking a more professional approach to your trading. I'congratulate you for recognizing and taking responsibility for that which you are responsible. A big to you!

M1 ORB on any of the US index futures is probably not the best place to start. I would suggest you slow things down. It looks like you're in Europe. Are you available to trade earlier, or are you trading the NYSE open because of your work/school schedule? Let me know what hours you are available (if possible, transpose them into NY clock time) and I'll try to help you settle on a more appropriate instrument and bar interval for a 20 trade sim exercise.
