Hi

Just wandered if anyone has had any success building an Expert Adviser with any of the AI companies out there?

I've been trying with ChatGPT5 but seem to be going round in circles.

If you've had some success and can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Hi Clive

Trading is simple as ABCD. I have had great pleasure from that thread. I use your CCI Histogram indicator in all my trading now adays. You seemed to have such a great sucess with that strategy. So my question is - why don't you just make that as a robot?

I don't know about your coding skills. But I could make it for you if you like.
MetaTrader 4 - so many advantages.

Yes. I have very poor computer skills and zero coding skill and I managed to make a very complex ea including a dll. This was done mostly on basic paid chat 4 and 5 and some free Claude. It took about 1 month at least 2 hrs per day. Absolute dogged persistence is required. The greatest thing ever was the print screen and drag/drop into chat. Whenever I was stuck usually at every step the ai was able to guide. No it's not profitable but it works just requires massive effort

Mr Erebus, can you help me, I am looking for a post, it is a ea system,
remember it running on 4 or 5 chart, start at different time every day, had its own target, after profit target achieved, it stopped. The author probably is from Indonesia. Do you know this post? Maybe it is on Journal sub forum.

Thanks IAMFX always had massive respect for your honest sometimes brutal answers here on the FF, so its good to hear you give it a positive nod and to be honest the way you described it is exactly how I find it.

"Absolute dogged persistence is required." Did you find it often forgetting where it was or which version you were on? I've had to restart at least half a dozen times but each time my strategy and how to go about it, gets clearer in my mind and ChatGPT seems to write it better too with less code each time.

Anyway I think I will persist and get it finished asap.

Thanks RiskFighter for your kind words and thats exactly what I intend to do although a little more refined than it was , as I've had a massive swing in how I see trading nowadays and what it takes to be profitable.

basically KISS, keep it as simple stupid and only chase 25 pips per session durring market opens which is all I need to be a very rich man if I crack it, just 25 pips per session.

The robot I am testing right now is doing the cross on 2 MA's on M1. Confluenced by CCI on M1 and M5.

The robot can exit at a certain amount of pips, but I test exit done by Supertrend 10, 2.5. That way I often can ride the trend to the end.

The robot trade on 4 different instruments.

I have made a robot that close the day when a certain % profit has been gained - or loss of cause. Risk Management. Then everything is exited - no matter how nice the trend might be.

I will calculate on your 25 pips exit a day. That sounds interesting.

Still - if you need coding power, just let me know.

I sort of found the longer the conversation the worse the answers especially at high server load times. I would then ask it to make a prompt for a fresh chat then start again. Just at the moment Claude opus 4.1 is absolutely horrendous. A code with 1k lines has 50 errors and it can't seem to fix no matter how many goes it has. This is from supposedly the best ai coder. I had to drop chunks of it into chat 5 to fix

Coding them with AI is the easy part - making a profitable EA is almost impossible

Hey Clive,
Yes I just finished using Anthropic Claude Sonnet 4.0 & 4.1 to build a very complex and versatile 13000+ code lines. I subscribed to the Pro plan and quickly realized I needed a higher subscription with what I was developing, and upgraded to the Max plan. I have zero coding skills and therefore patiently followed every instruction to the letter. If there was any ambiguity I clarified before copying and pasting. I explained clearly what I wanted to code, and where necessary I attached chart illustrations. I always tell Claude not to write any code until it understands what I want done and we have detailed conversation until I am satisfied before coding begins. I compiled with almost every copy and paste, so errors and warnings are taken care of promptly.

At the conclusion of my project, Claude scored me 10/10 and an A++++ and rated my EA as "Your EA scores in the top 2-3% of all retail trading systems and would be competitive with many professional/institutional systems." Of course like Iamfx said, "Absolute dogged persistence is required." It took me 2 months of intense daily work.

Thank you Iamfx. I have an EA built for me some few years ago but the results were not consistent because of some coding errors, and unfortunately my coder was no longer available to fix the problems. I used Claude to identify and correct all the errors, and used that EA as foundation for my current EA development, taking it from 5000+ code lines to over 13,000.
I am a naturally creative and painstaking person, and believe in near perfection in anything I do. You just have to ask questions and reason with Claude, and also understand the EA structure. Claude is also not perfect and can be wrong, you therefore must know what you're doing and what you want. I debate and reason a lot with Claude before we commence any job.

Interesting. That's quite a massive code as far as I'm aware although I did read about one recently that was 20k lines. If possible I would think about removing you pics as people run scraper codes and the like and could copy aspects of your system.

I started using ChatGPT for EA creation back when it was ChatGPT-4, and I must say — AI has improved a lot. I always create my EAs with ChatGPT, not because I don’t know coding, but because it speeds up the process. One thing I’ve noticed with AI is that when coding, you need to clearly explain the logic. Instead of just saying ‘create an MA crossover,’ I specify it like ‘if the long MA is above the short MA.’ That way, it generates fewer errors, sometimes none at all.
