On August 11th I opened a topstep 50k combine. I've been reading the 10:05-10:10 bar exclusively,ongoing long only with 1:1 rr. I size my trades for a risk unit of $250, which would allow me to take multiple consecutive losses before failing the topstep combine. 11 entries have triggered, with 3 trades being losers and a staggering 8 trades being winners. Currently my account balance sits at $51,096.69, with the goal for funding being $53,000. This amazingly simple method of trading proves you don't need to reinvent the wheel to pull money from...

I was asked about TradeDay's restricted trading events. There are certain news releases during which Tradeday will close your position 2 minutes prior to the release and then you will be prohibited from trading until 2 minutes after the release. Some people think that there are many such events each week, which, if you are fixed bar trading, can interfere with trades (forcing you to close a trade and then not being able to get back in until the market has potentially run to you take profit ... or stop loss.
Here is the calendar of restricted events for August. I circled in red the two events that would require you to be ut of the market prioir to their release - NFP and CPI.
Here is the calendar for September, again, I circle in red the restricted events that impact traders of US stock index futures:
Given current market conditions, it is a good idea to be out of the market before NFP. I don't agree with the CPI restriction, but it has over the past 24 months occasionally been even more volatile than the NFP release, with stop hunts in both directions. The FOMC meeting restriction should not effect most of us, as we really should be out of the market by 12 noon most days if trading any US futures using fixed bar, unless you are trading an afternoon fixed bar.
If you are trading any energy product, you have to be out of the market 2 minutes before until 2 minutes after the weekly energy reports. If you trade agricultural products you have to be out before the USDA ag reports. Those restrictions are smart trading, imo.
I do not find Tradeday's restrictions unreasonable, though at one time I did. My opinion is that these restrictions are in general a good policy to build into my trading plan.

5min OR Gap n' Go strategy
I just wanted to share a very powerful setup using the 5m Opening Range,
A 5min ORB strategy for ES and NQ,,,,mind you it very well may work on the 1min etc as well 3min
really its your choice...I just like the 5min
Its nothing new ..
Its a 5min OR Gap n' Go strategy,,,,you must use RTH charts.
SL is the 50% of the Opening 5min candle,,no guesswork.
The premise is Price Gaps and goes ! A way to trade momentum..
There are various other forms of Gap ORB trades but this is simple.
If price gaps up and 1st bar(5m) positive buy the close of the first BO
If price gaps down and 1st bar(5m) negative sell the close of the first BO
Stoploss is 50% of the Opening 5m range.
TP is trader determined.
A very mechanical entry model...although PA can be very telling. for example
price not closing outside of the initial 5min range say for 4 or 5 bars
or conversely 2nd 5min bar closes outside low of the first 5m OR... Much higher probability
of a successful trade.
For me I try to squeeze my trades for all the juice I can..or at least I try
Which is why the MM of these setups are critical for success imo.
but thats straying from the premise of my post which is simply to show
a simple effective strategy .

EDIT: I should say I have only used this on ES not NQ....SL may need to be adjusted for NQ
