I dont know how for above 1588 it can go. 90 pips is a decent stretch.
It has a limit. 90 pips is under 1682.

These favors the usd.
What may be hidden is. GDP is in dollars. A rise in GDP can have inflation boost it. You can have a rise in gdp with shrinking production.

I think its worse, he isn't employing people who will tell him what he wants to hear. He is seeking to employ people who will do his bidding without question

I think its a mixture of idiots. Who will tell him anything he wants to hear. Putting a idiot in a suite. Is still a idiot in a suit. The rest of the world knows it. Lets not forget. They fired the people in charge of our nuclear weapons maintenance. Before they had to re-hire them. "Hey boss, I just got a call. DOGE fired the guys keeping us nuclear ready"
Now the guy brave enough who said "Hey Boss". is gone.

its interesting that the initial response is dollar weakness to the green number. Market maybe doubting it to be true

Unfortunately, the books appear to have been cooked for at least the last 40 years, if not longer. For example in the US, starting in 1983, the CPI no longer includes the price of a home but instead uses "rental value". The excuse was that the CPI was not supposed to include investments. However, the consequence is huge as anyone that owns a rental home will tell you they do not buy rental housing as an investment to break even; rents are always higher than house payments. So we STILL have an investment included, but now at an inflated value, especially when you see that 25.6% of consumers pay rent vs mortgage payments (https://ipropertymanagement.com/rese...ers-statistics). Which means that approximately 3 of 4 consumers do NOT pay rent, but their housing is still factored in at an inflated "rental value".

So, the books have institutional biases already built in. Add to that the fact that every single administration from both parties are frequently accused, justifiably or not, of further adjusting the books to more favorably reflect on their administration. This only fosters even more doubt on reported numbers coming from the government.

So, yeah, every market investor SHOULD get a little skittish every time reports come out, NOT knowing just how much institutional or administrational fudge-factor (up or down) has been built into the numbers they are seeing and not knowing how the market as a whole will react to them.
