WM4X-Dashboard series for MT4 - General description

Dashboards are multi-currency and multi-timeframe indicators.
This description refers to my dashboards in general terms; deviations from this are possible in individual programs.






Foreword:
When loading, the indicator first updates the data (displays check marks in the fields) and only then gives the signals to avoid outdated data giving false signals.
This only happens during the initial loading, or when changes have been made to the instruments and/or time frames.
Although WM4X-programs are as effective as possible, keep in mind that dashboards are special indicators, as they work not only with data from one chart, but in some cases with hundreds! Unfortunately, MT4 can only run on one processor-core (afaik), which severely limits the available processing capacity. Therefore, only run as many instances of the dashboard as your machine can comfortably handle.

Unique ID:
You can only add multiple instances of the indicator to a chart if you give each instance a different 'Unique ID' number. It is also recommended that you use different 'Unique IDs' even if the dashboards are on different charts, as this allows you to distinguish which one generated the alerts for the Alert-window.

Time frames:
The desired time frames can be specified with their indices (for example, M15, H1, and H4 as follows: 2,4,5. If you want H1 to give a reverse signal - for example, you want to see a pullback, then do it like this: 2,-4,5; i.e., put a minus sign there).
Only correctly entered values are taken into account; gibberish is ignored.
TF help included in the Inputs tab (0:M1 ... 8:MN1).

Signal mode:
Normal: all time frames have the same signal (i.e. all arrows point in the same direction).
Fuzzy: at least half of the time frames point in the same direction, and there are no signals pointing in the opposite direction (it only makes sense to use this setting if there are also neutral arrows – specific example: there are 5 time frames, 3 of which point upwards, 2 are neutral, and none point downwards). This mode serves the purpose of avoiding entering at the absolute peak of a movement - some time frames are currently experiencing a slight pullback.

Signal type:
It always depends on the specific program.

Instruments & Forbidden currencies:
Since it would be quite inconvenient to enter each instrument manually, therefore the program automatically includes the 28 basic pairs. If that's all you need, you're done (you only need to enter the prefix and/or suffix - if your broker uses them).

However, you can reduce the number of pairs if you don't need all of the basic 28. You can disable individual currencies from the 8 base currencies with using 'Forbidden currencies'. The 8 main currencies (AUD, CAD, CHF, EUR, GBP, JPY, NZD, USD) form the 28 base pairs. If, for example, you do not want signals for JPY and NZD, enter JPYNZD (no comma required here, but allowed). This will give you only 15 instruments (instead of 28) based on the remaining 6 currencies. However, you can add any JPY or NZD pair to the 'Custom' instruments (following the previous example - here you also need to specify any prefix or suffix, for example NZDUSDi).

Another example: if you only want to use 2 instruments (let's say EURJPY and USDCAD), enter 'AUD,CAD,CHF,EUR,GBP,JPY,NZD,USD' (or even 'AUDCADCHFEURGBPJPYNZDUSD') in 'Forbidden currencies' and enter 'EURJPY,USDCAD' in 'Custom' list (with prefix and/or suffix - if needed).

Naturally, if you want to add additional instruments to the basic 28, just enter them in the 'Custom' list (with prefix and/or suffix - if needed).
The program filters out any duplicates, so don't worry about that.

Alerts:
Intelligent alerts (you won't be bombarded with alerts, you will only receive a notification when a new signal is generated - or during indicator reinitialization).
Specific example: you received a buy signal for EURUSD. Then the pair moves in such a way that the signal disappears and then reappears. At this point, you will not receive another buy notification, as there has been no change in the original direction. However, if a sell signal occurs, you will receive a new notification, as there has been a change.
Available alerts: sound, pop-up, email and push notification.

Signals in global variables:
It is for programmers, it makes it easier if you want to use the signals in other programs - EAs, indicators.
A specific example: a bullish signal for EURUSD looks like this:

1 (1 means bullish, -1 means bearish. If no global variable is found for a given instrument, then there is currently no valid signal.)
You can view the current values by pressing F3 on the terminal (if you turned it ON in the Input settings).

Font:
During development, I used the 'Source Code Pro' font and optimized the appearance accordingly. Of course, you should use the font that suits you best. You can choose from a list (these are the ones that can be found on almost every operating system), but you can also specify other font as well as 'Custom' if it is installed on your computer. In any case, it is strongly recommended to use monospace fonts for a better appearance.

Display size, horizontal and vertical stretching:
The dashboard can be resized across a wide range, and horizontal and vertical stretching is also available.
You can fine-tune the size of these data-fields. This can be particularly useful if you are using a high-resolution monitor (>=4K), so that the text is displayed correctly if the default setting was problematic.

Others:
- Movable (click/release > move > click/release in the header)
- Color schemes
- Actual row highlighting (optional) and direct chart opening option by clicking to a field (with your own template)
- Magnet pixels, this is useful if you are running multiple copies of the program and want to align them horizontally or vertically (for a more organized look)
- Refreshing time (you can adjust the refresh rate - in milliseconds - to match the power of your CPU)
- Close button for convenient and quick removal

Troubleshooting:
WM4X-dashboards only manages its own objects, global variables and comments, it does not 'harm' the components of other programs.
If you experience any incompatibility, it is certainly because the other (3rd-party) program was poorly written. Unfortunately, this is a very common phenomenon, because most publicly available MT4 programs are written by amateurs. In this case, contact the developer of the other program.
In any case, if you encounter a problem with the dashboard that prevents it from loading or running normally (because an external program has ignorantly manipulated its objects and/or global variables), do the followings:
1. Press F3 in the MT4 terminal and delete the lines containing the expression '_WM4X_DB_MA_'.
2. Open the 'Object list' on the chart, click on 'List all' and delete those that contain the term 'WM4X_DB_MA_' (replace MA with the appropriate program name).
3. Reload the dashboard.

Signal types:
1./ Direct (fast only): shows the direction of the fast moving average (i.e., whether the current value is lower or higher than the previous one)
2./ Crossing of 2 moving averages (fast vs. medium): shows that the fast moving average is higher/lower than the medium moving average
3./ Crossing of 3 moving averages (fast vs. medium vs. slow): shows that the fast moving average is higher/lower than the medium moving average and the medium moving average is higher/lower than the slow moving average. This method is good for showing only well-established trends, where the individual MAs run in a neat order rather than being mixed up.

Hi, I'm subscribed.
I would like to see the symbol changer in such a way that the user can format the layout and that it can be placed in a separate window.
Also, I would like to be able to add indicators to the symbol changer, so that I can get alerts and visual change of button colors according to my chosen indicators. So, this means that the symbol changer would also work as a dashboard.

Updates are awesome too, easy, so quick to view all daily chart, find an opportunity!

Improvements such as the Changer are things that Metatrader should have started buying the right for and inserting into the program IMHO.

A nice addition to this neat tool would be a slideshow timer to rotate through your selected symbols, then also being able to stop /pause slideshow.

Basically, I intend to upload my existing programs to this thread. Regardless, I will make a note of any good ideas and take them into consideration in the event of a possible upgrade (BTW, your idea is good).

New feature!
The latest version of ChartChanger (v1.23) includes a slideshow feature.
The transition time between charts can be set between 1 second and 1 hour.
There are two types of slideshows:
1./ based on instruments, and
2./ based on time frames.

It is also possible to create automatic screenshots based on the slideshow.
Be careful with this, as depending on the settings, a lot of images may be created (make sure you have enough storage space).
When this option is enabled, an exclamation mark will appear next to the 'SShow' button-label ('SShow!') - to remind you that this option has been enabled.

While the slideshow is running, the panel movement option and the instrument and time frame stepping options are not available.
The slideshow can be started/stopped using the button at the bottom of the panel.

With this indicator, you can see the current status of your open trades at a glance. Each open trade is displayed as a separate record.
Pending orders are also displayed.

The following information is displayed:
1. Instrument and trade direction
2. Profit (includes swap and commission)
3. Points (difference between opening price and current price, excluding costs)
4. Lot size
5. Time elapsed since opening (selectable: minutes/hours/days)
6. mHR/mDD

Multi-instrument trade-assistant expert advisor (EA) for MT4

This EA was created to enable manual traders to manage their trades quickly and efficiently.
Open, close, and reverse trades with a single click on a transparent and convenient interface.
It also provides information on the current result of trades.

This tool is useful for those who want to manage all trades for a given instrument collectively.
You can open as many buy/sell trades for a given instrument as you want one by one, but closing and reversing them is done collectively.
For example, if you have 4 buy and 2 sell trades open on EURUSD (and they all have the same magic number), clicking close ('x') will close all 6 trades. Using the same example, if you click on the reverse ('rvrs') button, the original 6 trades will be closed and then 4 sell and 2 buy trades will be opened, according to their original lot sizes.

You can set the lot sizes individually on the panel. If you click on the lot size field for a given instrument, you can set the lot size for that instrument.
The trade opening buttons - if there are no open trades - contain the words 'buy' or 'sell'. If there are open trades, this changes, and the number of open lots can also be read from the button.
Specific example: there are 3 open buy trades of EURUSD (with lot sizes of 0.01, 0.03, and 0.04). The EURUSD 'buy' button will display: 'b# 0.08' (0.08 buy lots).

If there are multiple open trades for an instrument, the point value is calculated based on the total lot size, weighted appropriately, of course.
It is possible to reset all lot sizes with a single click: set the new base lot size in Settings and then click on the reset lot size ('Rst-Lots') button at the bottom. This way, you don't have to bother with each one individually if you want to use a new lot size for all instruments.

If enabled in Settings, EA displays important information about trade management on the Experts tab.


SL/TP settings: two methods can be used.
1./ According to the ATR percentage. First, set which timeframe should be the basis for the ATR calculation. Then enter the values that are appropriate for you.
2./ According to points.
IMPORTANT! The ATR percentage takes precedence over the points. If there is a value other than zero here (at ATR percentage), the setting based on the points will be ignored.

The panel displays the market-spread ('MSPR'). Its value is calculated based on 28 base instruments, which are averaged. This is a useful feature because it allows you to determine at a glance whether the market is calm or turbulent. This is particularly useful in the case of red news, as you can track whether the market has calmed down enough to start opening trades.


The following information is displayed:
1. Instruments (customizable list)
2. Profit (includes swap and commission)
3. Points (difference between opening price and current price, excluding costs)
4. Lot size
5. Market-spread

Multi-currency and multi-timeframe candle-direction dashboard indicator for MT4

This indicator generates extremely simple signals, which can nevertheless be very useful. Bullish candles give a buy signal, while bearish candles give a sell signal.

The signals can be influenced by two parameters:
1. ATR-percentage: a threshold value can be set below which no signal is generated. This means that only candles that have reached a certain size will generate a signal. This can be useful for filtering out candles that are too small, while on the other hand, if you set a sufficiently high value, only candles that are particularly large will become visible.
Specific examples:
A./ Let's say the specified value is 20%. In this case, candles that are smaller than 20% of the ATR for the given time frame, which are still 'finding their direction', will not generate a signal.
B./ Let's say the specified value is 150%. In this case, candles smaller than 150% of the ATR for the given time frame will not give a signal. This means that only signals indicating particularly large candles will appear. With these signals, it may be worth watching for signs of exhaustion and opening a reverse trade (this statement primarily applies to the daily time frame).
2./ Doji-percentage: in the case of a classic doji candle, the opening and closing prices are exactly the same. This rarely happens. It is much more common and realistic for there to be a minimal difference between the opening and closing prices, which can still be interpreted as a doji. The doji-percentage value can be used to set the size of the candlestick body that is still considered a doji. The calculation also takes into account the ATR value of the given time frame, and based on its percentage value, we get the maximum size of the candlestick body - below which it is a doji.
Specific example: let's say the specified value is 5%. In this case, candles with a candle body smaller than 5% of the ATR for the given time frame do not give a signal, as these are doji candles.

Furthermore, this indicator can also be useful for forming a picture of the current state of the market. If the intraday time frames point in one direction for many instruments, then the market is in a 'state of momentum' – this situation is particularly suitable for scalping, for example. On the other hand, if just a few instruments give consistent signals on intraday time frames, then the market is clearly weak and directionless. In this case, it may be better to stay away from trading (at least on lower time frames).

If you only want traditional candle direction detection without a filter, set both parameters to 0.
