When my instrument is pumping or dumping into the closed of the reference bar I will often just market order in either just before the bar closes or on the open of the next bar.

Can't let a few ticks keep you from the trade. If it triggers, get in, and accept the slightly increased risk.

When you guys post your charts, you should post so that the time axis is also visible. After all, a chart isn't a chart without plotting price over time.

news spike clicked me in then hit my SL.
In my notes section of my excel sheet I added this was a news trade to look back on it later to see if news is something I should avoid or not

Did you make three points before market went against you( SP500). I was just thinking of Vidvads table of three points above. Something to consider, a three point target, in future samples of 20 maybe?

Yes I did make 3 points. But looking back in history there are many losses that don't even make 3 points which would outweigh the wins by a lot more. Either way I am almost at the end of my 20 trades and have thought about ways of improving things since I will most likely not end up in profit. But thanks for the suggestion.

The 3 point table was a generic simulated example. Trading plans should be built on the specific tendencies of the particular edge that is the basis of that plan. I wasn't meaning to suggest that one should only take 3 point ES profits. The example was to show that by averaging 3 points profit per day, and then scaling up while retaining all accrued profits, one could build quite a large equity in a relatively short period of time. But again, it was meant as a generic simulation and not rule.

Day 5
Target was hit. However, TopstepX did not close out my position even after clicking flatten all and close positions so I missed out on about 8 ticks.
All in all a good week. 3 of 5 winners. Let's see what next week brings

My dog is not impressed. It has just dropped the ball at my feet expecting me to throw it down the hall. She sits there, "huffing" at me until I do so.
