For a whole host of reasons Yes.. I list them on the charts.
But basically price is in discovery when it breaks the Initial Balance low.
That is the best place to get in Breakouts...

Breakouts in Fair Value although they too work ,, I would rather stack probabilities in my favour.

Chris Drysdale is a proponent of this and explains better than I can... much more polished

But we have Initial Balance VWAP and Vol Profile all 3 give us a Point of Control POC a
Value Area High VAH and a VAL... VWAP is the POC and the 1SD's are the VAH VAL
Initial Balance High is VAH Low is VAL and the 50% line POC

That is my framework on determining Fair Value and Price Discovery in the Auction Process.
As well I may add how they work in conjunction with a DAILY H or L...
One may say that when price is within a previous days Range (Inside) its in Value.
When price breaks outside of a Daily Level its Discovering new Value

Hope this all makes sense.. I have said alot in the last few pages and it's alot to digest
if one is not familiar with AMT Market Profile etc...

It may seem complicated but it doesn't take long for it to make sense.

Here's a simple setup....
Using 00 25 50 75 00s using Session VWAP
looking for trades at the hourly rotations when Asia opens. 8 & 9pm

Not to hard to find a basic entry model revolving around these levels and these times.
Then its simply behaviour of Price

Now thats all for today tonight for charts and chat

Again there is no right or wrong way..its what resonates and works for each of us.
My ways get the job done for me...Find what works for you,,,,and along the way I
hope something I might post up helps someone be a little better.. Maybe its from
doing the opposite of what I do LOL.,,,,and thats cool beans !

Hey, Bluesteele, finally a thread with fresh air here, containing things that matter. Thumbs up for starting it.

If I might suggest you one thing (it will take more of your time and effort), if you are comfortable doing it, for people that start learning these concepts. Do a real trade review (daily report card, since you like the Lance's approach )

Show you entry, first screenshot before that chart developed, mark your stops. Then a second screenshot after trade developed, where you have your exit with points and key events like:

- what about handling a chop situation, when price stagnates at IB L/H and starts going sideways after?
- how and why you managed a drawdown (X, reasons that you saw on the tape/chart/correlation, whatever)
- exited the trade, because you saw Y reasons to do so
- re-entered after a stop hit, because Z events happened at key area of interest

If you are truly willing to share the knowledge, this approach would benefit others in a way that noone is doing it here. By this you get others to understand your thoughts along the way, when you are in the trade.

One important thing that you should mention, since you are using Tradingview for charting, the platform doesn't use tick data for constructing Volume Profile and VWAP. Therefore, on each timeframe the visual result of it will be slightly different. Smaller the timeframe is selected, the more accurate it will be. I am not saying it is wrong, I do use Tradingview myself, and it is absolutely usable for the purpose, but everyone should be aware of this fact.

Round Numbers with wiggle room , PD Highs/Lows, Market session Opens and Prev Day NY Closes, live & swear by them.
Rest is Market Structure for me.

Like clean charts.

I am abut as clueless when it comes to market profile as one could be. It just never seemed to catch my interest. I loaded the Ninjatrader "Order Flow Volume Profile" onto a chart of the 6E (EURUSD futures). I don't trade this instrument currently.

One thing that did cath my eye is that the 6e oftyen moves from the level of the "value area high" to the "value area low" or vice versa during the NY session.

This screen grab is just today's trade, starting at 6PM NYC last night when Globex re-opens for the day and through tonight's 5 PM NYC close.

Blue, are these levels going to be on my chart for tomorrow morning when I log in, or do these levels change throughout the day? Again, I know NOTHING about volume profile, but I'm willing to become less ignorant of it. Timing windows are identical, I believe, to those used by Stacey Burke.

Blue will answer in his own way, from my experience, all these value areas and the rest of the volume profile crap is meaningless TMI, there is no chance of increased probability towards successful trade whatsoever.

PA will go anywhere PA choses next tick from now, regardless these areas. Pure PA shows the way.

P.S. However, you do have interesting fixed bar trading idea, you just not seeing it yet. (being nice and encouraging here). I traded Range Breakouts before for quiet few years on 1 Hour TF USDJPY and came back to it a month ago to study lower timeframes. Fixed Bar/Range Breakout is now almost permanent strategy in one of my accounts.

I can’t argue against that.

Couple of months ago I asked ChatGPT to build me an indicator that searches for a bar that over a historical period has shown the most likelihood of having a breakout back to mid range of the day.

After some sweat toil and bad language I had an indicator drawing a box for likely candidates for a given time period, timeframe etc.

Convert that to a display indicator for multipair which displays all predicted zones for the selected trading period, add a toggle switch that selects relevant chart and hey presto the beginnings of a dynamic breakout system.

Then build an indicator that shows previous sessions levels with round numbers and if a box coincides with either it becomes a confluence…. But after all that, it’s still a 50/50 as each trader will have a different idea about whether to …(cough.. excuse me, hedge) or use stops, trailing, fixed T/P partial profits, and so on.

Kev could place up an A to Z of just do this and then that. The result will always with each trader be a different result.

Hi Driven

If you learned to trade with Volume profile correctly, you would learn the most important trade on the chart would be from Low Volume node to point of control.
This is a trade from true resistance zone to areas of either high distribution zones or accumulation zones.
Its the trade against the big players because they can’t trade against you here ever.
Now add a VWAP indicator as well and you have four more simple setups.

1. Low Volume Mode to POC
2. Breakout on price discovery from value area band.
3. Fade price discovery value area band.
4. Fade VWAP
5. Breakout from VWAP

On the value band area, I am referring to the first band (X1) which is the Blue shaded band on Blue’s chart.

All these setups can be confirmed from volume profile nodes and POC and repeat every single day.

Maybe lose the bad volume attitude you have give it a try.

Mind you, I am just that annoying volume guy
