Gold looking to base today below 3353-62 range to target 3310-15, below there will be big news that might be the start of long term downtrend, moved by the daily then the weekly toward 3296 which if based below can slide to 3214 this week.
My technical analysis leading trades depend on Daily/Weekly/Monthly Chart

Ofc there are more to what "high possibility" is such as:

1. Current market positioning (what's priced in)
2. Currency strength
3. Market's risk appetite: risk on/risk off
4. Macroeconomic Data

These are the things i keep an eye out when picking what pair or instrument to trade to boost my success rate.

R:R is obviously good to have on your side but it's probably like the last factor that i take into consideration

When you trade long enough, you will know that JUST because you are 100% confident, does not mean the trade will work out.
Also, Probability of win for one trade means nothing, but its dollar value it brings for the trader to monetise on, is more important than the one to one trade basis perspective.

Why?
1. A trading career does not consist of always 100% confident trade setups, as majority of the trade you will put on, will be not in your comfort zone.

2. The path of least resistance always follows the odd of success, while many traders trade the "too good to be true" setup, because they make a decision based on their pain management system.

3. Risk reward by itself is nothing and you can get a 1:20 trade. what more important is what follows that big wins. A Lambo, or another 100 setups or lose it all on the next trade because now you are invicible?? This is where a line is drawn by extremely good trader who actually built a profitable trading career and portfolio, and pissants who disappear in 2 years time.

4. Even "A+" setups failed, and low probability setup work excellently. Which leave us in a situation where we as a trader should trade the market based on our perceivable setups and not grading of the setup. The grading of the setup only defines how much will we be willing to risk on that trade setup. And not whether we will trade it or Not.

Now between you and me, 40-50 pips target for Gold trading, is only $5 move of an at least $40 daily range. Not milking the market at your best, which shows loopholes in your trade management.
No more engagement as from today.

No one has 100% win rate of course, but based on experience and sound risk management one can tell how much they can make and lose. Not like r:r but like percentage.

I never open a trade if i am not comfortable with it. If your trade is churning your stomach + making you sweat then you are doing something wrong.

If the pressure is too much it means either you risked a big sum of your money or initially you know you didn't do your research/practice beforehand, therefore not fully ready to trade.

I meant 40-50 pips on pairs. For Gold it's like 20-30$ but then again, my SL changes on various factors. There's no rigid SL. Market conditions change everyday.

Like i said i trade the news, and if i cannot tell what will be the direction 5 seconds after i read the news, i don't trade it. So we can say that i trade only the perfect setups.

I prefer to do my research and be done with my trial & error phase before i risk my money, so that i don't get emotionally attached to my trades.

I agree that R:R doesn't mean anything, well at least to me

Just closed all my shorts was expecting 3305 but I will take it. Better book some profit than nothing. Still looking for sells. Lets see how far the price retraces.

Today I am trading these 5 bounce points, 3 on short side and 2 on long side:

Short Side : 3358.26, 3366.80, 3380.64
Long Side : 3334.32, 3315.17

All have initial SL of 1.5 points (to be trailed by EA)... Except 3366.80 short limit order, which has initial SL of 2.35 points as it is covering two close bounce points.

Will be back with the trades, when they get hit... :-)

maybe sell off today due to positive CPI expectations . Or will we range

But the question is how far do we pullback first last week we saw some proper pullbacks before continuation of move, I wonder will this be the same or not

Knowing now that the news data from the 12th was already released in advance, do you really think that gold will continue with its slight decline?
