Problems Connecting to MT4 at Work ?

I have had the hardest time connecting to MT4 from work. I have heard that some users remote in to there home computer using logmein.com. I tried many remote connection providers but non worked except PCnow.webex.com. There is a free trial to test. The monthly cost is $12 but its worth it.

Try copying the program file of your preferred MT4 provider onto a memory key, and you're good to go. I did this, with guidance from an FF member here, and have not looked back No need to worry about installing it on multiple computers. Also, keep it on 2 keys, just in case one key fails.

I'm guessing he just read your post too quickly and missed the point. Copying your install to a flash drive won't do anything to help you get around the firewall at work. Remoting to your home pc (as you're doing) is the best option. You said you had issues with logmein? I'm surprised, it's been rock-solid for me and one of the few apps I go out of my way to tell people about.

I use Logmein too, quite successfully. I was not sure why you could not use MT4 at work, hence the flash drive suggestion. There is significant lag for me using remote log in's to my home PC.
No, I don't have a firewall problem at work, but I don't have my own PC at work, I don't want to install it on multiple PC's, can't use my laptop at work either, and like the quick access loading it on a memory key gives me.
Not sure what else to say....

I guess my office has more restrictions, not sure. When I try to get to logmein home page a notice comes up and reads Site Blocked. Anyway I dont mind paying $12 to get access, thx

It does seem like your office is rather strict on what is accessible from work, if it blocks logmein. Maybe you have a high level of security needed?
Do try the flash drive solution first - you don't want to spend $12 per month and still find out its blocked! Would it help talking to your IT people to find out why there is a problem, and if there is a way around it?

I have the same issues at work. Logmein is blocked as well. I am a network administrator to boot. The "Keeper of the Key" at my job is a control freak. The way I got around it was get a Cellular Wireless card and I have never had a problem since, and "GOD" still thinks he has me blocked.

I use my laptop at work, but you can also get a PCI card to fit your desktop that will accept your wireless card at most computer stores for around $50.00 usd.

i have a good trick i used when i was not working as the admin of my company

Install VNC on your home PC (firewalled to authorise only your work IP is safer of course)

Set the access port of VNC to 80.

You should be able to access it now from work as port 80 is usually not disabled and VNC is accessible from any web browser. Only problem is the refresh rate which is rather poor

I'm intrigued at your solution, especially the bit about using a PCI card for a desktop - how does that work? And how does the use of the cellular wireless card get around the firewall problem? Please explain in detail for this non - techie
