This is why people speak with a sense of urgency, and why Trump is taking a Hail Mary approach rather than fulfilling his election promises, with Musk. It's not anti-American rhetoric at all.

We have been speaking about this on and off: July is seasonally good for stocks (quite positive over the past 10-20 years). The late July > early October season, however, has NOT been very rewarding. If the annual returns in the /we have been 8%+, the next three months have returned around just 0.5-1.0% (too lazy to go back and look at my exact numbers).

As I said earlier this week during the pullback, ATHs by July expiration could be a thing we see. Whether there is a nice melt up that continues through tech earnings is another question. I really HOPE that there is (as I remain as long now as I was to start the year), BUT, in the back of my mind are the recent August issues (US downgrade a few years back...Yen unwind a couple of years later) and the fact that I am constantly saying "wake me up when September ends" leads me to "feel" that a completely natural ~5% pullback is entirely plausible during the upcoming few months.

All that said, the chance does certainly exist that we see a slow, steady period of consolidation meandering through October which nets the same, seasonal 0.5% returns but WITHOUT any pullback.....or, of course, that we roll higher and higher into the end of the year and just never look back.

The industry is calling for a pullback....so things likely roll higher (for another couple % anyway).

In all, I do NOT anticipate another bear barley collapse on the horizon....but don't see an extra 10% up over the next three months either (though I wouldn't be mad if the latter happened

)

Unfortunately the morons in DC will have to be forced into doing something. They will do something about it, they will have no choice, but only after the markets make them address it. Bond yields will spike, stocks will fall hard, then they will start thinking about what to do. But the market has to move first. As is the markets are doing exactly what they want, dollar and yields are steady and within their longer term ranges, stocks at all time highs. Why would they panic now? That’s why I said before that I’m not going to trade or worry too much about it until the market actually shows me there is a problem.

Markets can do whatever they want whenever they want for any reason they want. Market might fall 5%+ or keep going up anther 5%+, that’s a statistical fact. The higher stocks go the more likely they are to go higher, this is also a statistical fact. Big drops are very rare, possible always, but rare.

If I were Powell, I wouldn't hurry to step in, as was the case with the UK Truss debacle. Truss was gunning for the BoE and lost her job in weeks.
So Powell will let those bond yields rip while Trump essentially sets up a shadow Fed.

Yes.

If earnings are good and trade deals aren’t as bad as expected, there is a huge amount of cash in money markets earning very little, and that can keep us in this incredibly strong bull market. But the number I posted months ago was 6600 for the Spx, I’m not sure we can just blow through ever higher numbers. I’d honestly like to see a 10% pullback, much more fun and more trading opportunities, but a small 5% is a definite possibility as you said.

I think the only thing that can really derail things is significant inflation coupled with major trading partners giving up negotiating and trying the trade war route. That won’t be good for anyone.

When have I ever posted a serious of questions in a row? That’s not how I write. Seems a little paranoid but feel free to ask the mods of the site if my ip is the same as whoever that is.

I think the market is stuck around where it is and it’s drifting higher waiting for real news. Don’t see a big move in either direction unless something unexpected happens like a trade war. That means I’m selling otm short dated calls, boring, but it keeps me paying attention. I want a pullback to go long with new money, I could definitely be missing a melt up, but I’m not comfortable putting new cash to work at 6300, just as I posted after the 3rd run up.

I’m asking for general numbers from you. If your predictions come true, give me an SPX and/or dollar target, rounded to whatever. Like spx 5k, 4k, 3k, over 3 months. 6 months, etc. I’m trying to figure out what “biblically” bad means.
