Not sure who here is familiar with Ross Cameron, a successful retail day trader with his own system. He's reportedly turned $583 into millions. I'm not here to pitch his system, as you can do your own research, but given the topic at hand it is worth noting that he does have a rigid system, it works for him and he continually sees success. He still takes loses of course but how he bounces back from those loses is what matters. He often blames himself for deviating from his system and records data from every trade so he can chart and graph it to find consistent inconsistencies in his losses.

Hi friend, Yes I have a Mac so using Tradovate at present. I hear Ninja and Sierra are superior so I may invest in a windows pc at some point to test those out. How is Ninja on the we version? I have been wary of web versions not sure why...

This 8ema channel i have used for years and is simply my way of exploiting a trade when I can. It doesnt always work
and is much harder than you think to hold. But tossing the idea out there for those who may like to look at something
like this to use. IF you can hang onto a trade..this gives a well defined OUT...

Pleased so far. Good fills etc. Not bothered about TA arsenal because all I use are a few lines and that is it. Love Futures though.

Yes, I don't want to deny that it's been my fault so far, even though I've been disciplined in implementing all the strategies that were objective and rule-based. Job. Yes, a traditional 9-5 job that also pays well enough is difficult to find due to various health and family issues. I've only had a permanent job for five years and have been a freelance web developer for 15 years, but that's getting worse and worse.

I completely understand your point of view, however, no one will give you the silver plate with the solution to be profitable. Not because everyone is hiding their secret edge, but because you lack experience, your own edge that you trust based on repetition/consistency, capital and other things. Even if a well known trader would mentor you and give you his exact system, you will probably fail at it. Why? Because due to lack of mentioned things, sooner or later you would deviate from the system and fail at the execution.

Right from the beginning you have stacked the odds against you with high probability that you will fail. Why?
1. Trading is hard on its own, you decided to day trade, which is even harder, because time exposure works against you. You have limited window of opportunities during a single day from the market open to the close. Your aim is to catch only parts of the biggest moves. Due to that you have to use leverage to make bigger % gains.
2. While using leverage and also having lack capital compared to institutions, real prop traders or well capitalized individuals, your chances for blowing up are much greater compared to someone who does multiple day swings with small bets without leverage as he has the time working for him. It is way easier to make 5000$ with 50000$ than with 5000$ initial capital. You need capital to make significant capital, period.
3. You have mental pressure to achieve success to resolve your financial needs, while you are still searching for your edge.

Best advice would be get a regular job to have some kind of security, while you try to resolve the other aspects of your potential trading career.

Others may disagree, but the following is only my opinion. Do I trade Mebob? No. Do I consider it a profitable strategy on the long run? No, considering execution errors, slippage, commissions, and other random events that can occur. At its best it is going to be breakeven. Do I use ORB? Yes, 1M and 1H (IB). Do I execute it blindly? No. Both Mebob and ORB have their merits and reasonings to be that specific bar. It is the time, when there is a high probability to catch a significant move each day. Do I use only ORB? No. It is only a part of my framework and great guide for the trading session.

As mentioned before a "fixed bar method" gives you a solid and workable system with rigid rules to follow and learn by repetition. Once you have some kind of consistency, doesn't matter if your $$$ positive or negative, you can build upon that. If you don't blow up, that's a great thing, since you followed the system rules. You will start to notice the nuances that improve/decrease profitability, execution errors and so on. After that you may start adding other factors that will influence your trading system.

I highly suggest you to transit to futures, instead of using cfds, for various reasons. Choose a thick product like ES and avoid thin products like DAX, NQ, CL, they will bust you with the volatility while your are still learning. Seems that you trying to trade an european product, instead of DAX, try to look at FGBL, or FESX. Almost all futures have their micro contracts that can suit your capital.

The problem is we usually watch one instrument, SP500 for example, and only see the "rippers" later on.

What do you mean when you say that ES is a "thick" product and DAX is "thin"? Yes, what you're saying all sounds reasonable. Capital would be less of an issue, but finding a plan that's consistently profitable for me would be more of an issue. An ORB approach like that suits me. It would probably be even more difficult with a job. I wouldn't have time to trade market openings, and I wonder if I'd even have the time or desire to continue trading. I don't know anything about futures, but they seem like much more complex products than CFDs. CFDs also seem much more flexible and less capital-intensive. I also can’t see a difference in the price action. A few days ago, I compared the DAX and ES futures chart with that of my CFD broker. There's little to no difference.

Hey guys, so I've been trading a similar type of approach for a long time now, and it works. Trading ORB, fixed bar, etc has enabled me to make multiple payouts on prop firms and my personal trading.

You just need to use good risk management, remain disciplined, have patience, and stick to the rules.

I use a trading tool which I created and it works great for this approach. It draws the range and alerts you when there is a breakout.

I posted something similar a little while back and the OP didn't like it so I removed it. This indicator is simpler and easier to use and sticks to the main strategy rules.

I hope you guys find it useful and enjoy it.

I could use a trade management tool that trades the breakouts according to my specifications, since manually placing the market orders on a closed candle outside the range as well as risk and profit management in my manual execution not only produces totally inaccurate results but is also totally complicated, especially when the price moves erratically back and forth while trying to achieve an accurate execution. Can’t imagine anyone doing this for a living is operating in such way where timing and accuracy is paramount. Imagine a dentist trying to drill a hole with a trembling hand… Thats what my Click and Point Trading looks/feels like hehe.

I really no longer GAF about the market. I trade my set ups, and what happens happens. IJDGAF because at the end of 100 trades, I'm going to have a lot more money than I did at the beginning of those 100 trades.

Referencing Mr Turnip I posted up those charts above not to only show different markets besides indices...

But to show how different markets have different opening times .

Copper 810
Gold Play 820
Silver 825
Some of the financials and currencies 820
Energy Oil NG 900
And of course indices 930
AGS etc...

All futures ..

Although we don't know exactly when the setup occurs... We can trade a number of different markets in one session with the various open times.

If we so choose that is...

When I am trading a one hour set up (IB) it is a little more difficult as all the markets can sort of run into each other when setups happen if that makes sense..

But with a 5-minute fixed bar 5 minute ORB 15 minute OR.... It is relatively easy trade multiple markets... Except when I'm too heavy on say gold first thing in the morning getting stopped out and leaving me no firepower for say the ES... LoL... Lord knows I've been beat up more times than I could even remember.
