DislikedAnd in the section below, he really nails golf in a way that I think relates very well to tradingIgnored
I agree. This is probably the case in most sports at the professional level. No matter how well you try to analyze a Tiger Woods, a Michael Jordan, or a Messi, you won't be able to copy them. I played golf for several years myself, as well as many other sports. Unfortunately, I currently lack the money and time for it. However, I regularly go swimming and to the gym to balance out all the screen time.
Anyway, I would say that most "newbies" unfortunately don't have the necessary experience and intuition to succeed in trading. After 10-15 years of trading, I'm including myself in this, and it's also leading me to realize that a purely mechanical trading style would suit me better than relying on my intuition/discretion. Whether there's something like that that's profitable enough to achieve my goals is another matter. Probably not the many "EAs" you can find all over the internet for a few hundred dollars.
Overthinking- I plead guilty. Unfortunately, it wasn't entirely intentional, as I've struggled with generalized anxiety disorder and depression since my teenage years. I've tried everything, but my mind is hard to switch off (one more reason for me to want to automate my trading as much as possible, without the influence of intuitive decisions).
