How to Use Saved Templates in Trade Manager MT5 for Efficient Strategy Switching

If you are using Trade Manager MT5, there is a simple yet powerful feature that can greatly improve your workflow: saved configuration templates.
Trade Manager MT5 allows you to create ready-made templates for your trading strategies. This helps you switch between scalping, swing trading, and other approaches without having to adjust all settings manually each time — saving time and reducing the risk of mistakes.

Creating a Template in Trade Manager MT5

1. Open your Trade Manager MT5 panel and set all desired parameters.
2. Example: to create a scalping template for GBP/USD:
   1. Stop Loss: 5 pips, Take Profit: 5 pips (1:1 risk-to-reward).
   2. Enable automatic lot size calculation and set risk per trade to 1%.
   3. Add a trade comment such as "Scalping".

3. Save the configuration:
   1. Click the disk icon on the left side of the panel.
   2. Name your template "Scalping_GBPUSD" and confirm.

Setting Up a Swing Trading Template
You can easily create a second template for a swing strategy:

1. Stop Loss: 25 pips, Risk-to-Reward Ratio: 2:1.
2. Risk per trade: 2%.
3. Comment: "SWING".
4. Save as "Swing_Trading".

Managing Templates in Trade Manager MT5

1. Click the folder icon to access your saved templates.
2. Mark any template as a favorite by clicking the star icon — favorites appear at the top of the list.
3. You can rename a template using the pencil icon.
4. To delete a template, click the red X and confirm.

Practical Example — Using Saved Templates
Imagine you want to open a trade with your "Scalping_GBPUSD" template:

1. Load the template from your saved list.
2. Trade Manager MT5 will automatically load all predefined parameters (SL, TP, lot size, comment).
3. You can immediately place your order.

Next, if you want to switch to your swing trading strategy:

1. Load "Swing_Trading" template.
2. A different set of parameters will be ready to use — no need to reconfigure settings manually.

I have a question regarding the risk in dollar amount. I noticed that when changing these settings: None or Cash Amount, the trade manager showed different dollar amounts, although the lot size is the same (Please see GIF attached). Why are they different and which one is correct?

Hello,
thanks for your question, this is actually a common point of confusion.
The difference you are seeing most likely comes from the fact that you have a commission value defined on the configuration tab of the MT5 Trade Manager settings.

When you manually set the lot size yourself, this commission is not included in the displayed risk amount.
However, when the lot size is calculated automatically (whether based on Cash Amount, Risk % of Balance, or Risk % of Equity), the calculation does take into account the commission, in order to give you a more accurate representation of the real risk per trade.
That’s why you are seeing a difference in the dollar amount displayed, even though the lot size stays the same.

Please refer to the image below for a guide on how to move your Stop Loss to breakeven within the Trade Manager MT5.

In MetaTrader 5, you can easily adjust your Stop Loss to breakeven directly from the active order panel while in the trade. To do this, simply click on the active order panel within the Trade Manager MT5. Once open, you will see a button highlighted in red. Toggle this button to the "ON" position to activate the breakeven functionality.




Before enabling the button, make sure you have selected your preferred breakeven point, whether it's based on Pip, %, Risk-Reward (RR), or Price. To adjust your selection, click on the button where it says Pip and choose the option that suits you.











IF you want to Secure some profits intstead of moving to breakeven within the Trade Manager MT5

Do the following :
Click on Active order in MetaTrader 5 with our Trade Manager MT5 in profit option select for example 10pip Activate 1 pip profit, that means when your order will go 10 pips in profit it will move stop loss 1pip in profit instead of exactly breakeven!

How to link MT5 Trade Manager Settings Templates to MetaTrader5 Chart Templates

Trade Manager MT5 lets you link a specific settings template to a chart template. Here’s how it works.
Let’s say you trade the GBPUSD and usually set a fixed stop loss and take profit of 30 pips with 0.5% risk. First, set up those values in Trade Manager and save the configuration as a settings template named “GBPUSD_Set”.


Then:

1. Click the Trade Manager icon at the top-right of your chart to open the settings.
2. In the Trade Params section, find the field “Default Settings Template” and enter “GBPUSD_Set”.
3. Click OK to confirm.

Next, save the chart template itself:

1. Right-click on the chart → Templates → Save Template
2. Name it something like “gbpusd_template” and save.

Now, every time you load that chart template on a new GBPUSD chart, it will not only apply the layout but also automatically load your Trade Manager with the correct stop loss, take profit, and risk settings.



Huge time-saver, especially if you use different strategies or trade multiple pairs!
This feature works in both MT4 and MT5 versions of Trade Manager.

You have the option to choose between the standard Trailing Stop and the Multilevel Trailing Stop within the Trade Manager MT5. Both options are fully compatible with MetaTrader 5, and you can select the one that best suits your trading strategy and risk management preferences.

In Forex trading, especially when using Trade Manager MT5, the Multi-level Break Even function can be incredibly helpful for protecting your profits while managing risk.
Here’s how it works: Once the price moves in your favor and starts generating profits, you can move your Stop Loss to the break-even point. This ensures that, in the worst case, you won't exit the trade with a loss. As the price continues toward your Take Profit, it's a good idea to adjust the Stop Loss again to lock in a portion of the profit you've already earned. If the price retraces, you can still exit with a profit.
To activate this feature in Forex Trade Manager MT5, simply go to the third tab in the main panel and locate the break-even parameters. From there, you can set up your multi-level break-even strategy and start protecting your profits as your trade progresses.

To activate multi-level break even, go to the third tab in the main panel and find the break even parameters.




Then click on the header and select the “BE multi-level” option from the list.



Four buttons will appear next to the list which indicate 4 different break even levels that you can define and activate.




Click the button with the number “1” (you will see a white frame around the button, which means it is an active button) and enter the parameters for the first level of Break Even:

 

1. Activation – This is the level/moment when the Stop Loss should be moved to Break Even. The activation moment can be set as:
   1. Distance in pips from the opening price.
   2. Percent (%) of the distance from the opening price to Take Profit (TP). For example, if TP = 120 pips and BE Activation = 30%, it means the Break Even will activate at 36 pips of profit (30% of 120 pips).
   3. Risk Reward (RR) means distance as a ratio of Stop Loss distance. For example, activation = 1.0 R:R and SL = 30 pips, then activate BE at 30 pips of profit; another example, BE activation = 1.5 R:R and SL = 30 pips, then activate BE at 45 pips of profit. This is always related to the initial Stop Loss.
   4. Price – A certain price level.
   5. Profit – The amount you need to protect using the Break Even option. You can set this value in pips, percent (%), risk reward (RR), or price.

   
   
   

Activate this Break Even level by clicking the red “OFF” button, which will now glow green. The button with the number “1” will also light up green, indicating that Break Even is active for the first level.

Then click the “2” button and enter new parameters for the second BE level and activate it.





Do the same for subsequent levels if you need to activate them.

Once you have set all the parameters, you can place the order. You should now see your settings for multi-level Break Even in the order parameters window.



This is what an example activation path for a two-level Break Even might look like.

Equity Control in Trade Manager MT5 and MT4

We’ve added a powerful new feature to Trade Manager for MT5 and MT4 – it’s called Equity Control, and it’s designed to protect your capital by automatically closing all open positions once your equity reaches a certain profit or loss threshold.


This is especially useful for day traders and scalpers who want to lock in profits or prevent overtrading. Instead of watching your screen all day, you can now configure Trade Manager to automatically stop trading once, for example, you’ve reached +$100 profit or hit -$50 loss.
You’ll find this feature in the third tab of the Trade Manager panel, under the section called Trade Closure by Equity.


What’s great is that you can define your equity targets in three different ways:

1. As a fixed amount in account currency (e.g., $100),
2. As a percentage of your account balance (e.g., 3%),
3. Or by setting a specific equity level (e.g., $10,500).

It’s a simple yet powerful way to add another layer of risk management to your trading routine.

The latest updates on the trade manager are great, especially the equity control. I like that it has its own dedicated panel to visually see your set targets. It kinda reminds me of a health bar which gamifies trading a bit and it has helped me keep track and be more aware of my trading performance. Kudos for that!

Although I'm still waiting for the auto-trade screenshot as this will greatly ease my journaling. With this feature, I don't have to worry if I forgot to screenshot my charts and have a record of my trades executed in real time. I hope this will be implemented soon on the next update.
