If closing additional lots (after balance is up 1%) leaves your balance at a negative 1% or lower with your core, do you immediately readd the first level of additional lots? This happened to me this AM. Thanks

I can tell you're a little bit excited about this. My balance was up about 3% this am. since friday so I'm very pleased so far.

Today morning I closed my additional lots, and my initial basket position is positive since then, 11 of the 13 pairs are positive pips right now. (like +600usd in 1 account, and +200usd in other)
Everything works perfect with the future index of USD in positive and Franc an yen in negative, at least thats what I see.
-1,000usd in my case from the Highest balance, i will add additional lots right away, the same when I reach +1000 usd I will close additional lots.

Right now for USD index sep 07 is -0.020, and positive for dec 07, what will happened if I close all positions and and wait until the index is big high again? like these 2 days before? Donīt know, may be is a good idea to close when USD index is down in Sep and dec 07.

Can these be too good to be true? damn... I donīt feel stress! iīm not worried about EUR/USD going up or down, weird!

Live account up over 14% since July 24th, just closed all adds today.

1 week more, and i will take this to LIVE...
I have my LIVE account in Forex.com, but because my size account is a little big, I don't have the option of "mini lots", I should change to OANDA or IBF...
suggestions are welcome..

I would definatly recommend Oanda for this, because the interest is paid by the second. More compounding. and the spreads are lower and micro lots for more granularity.

Im using OANDA as a "tester", I like it.... for sure I will open a new live account with them.

Currently using IBF, but might switch to Oanda at some point. I like using Metatrader to open and close all adds in one shot.

No I do not. I look at the equity amount (combined open and closed) to determine when to add, not the core position. When the equity goes down $1000 from a high, then add.

Does that help?

anpar, shouldn't you use an extern variable for Magic on the close script? This way you can distinguish which level you are at. Let's say you have put on lots at the .08 level, and now you want to cloe that level. The way the script reads now, it would close .08 and .04 levels.

In order to stay neutral, shouldn't we only be be adding when the equity goes down by $1000 from the original amount? Maybe Im missing something... If you add when it goes down by $1000 from a high, it may never surpass this high... or it may take years. Whats the strategy in that situation? Thanks.

Hi bhale,

Unfortunately, I did not write the codes for these EAs. When using CTtrader Add, I change the magic number to reflect the level of the add. When using CT Traderclose, I change the magic number by editing the EA to correspond to the magic number I want to close.

It doesn't need to get to a new high based on symmetrical leverage.

If unit 1 loses $1000 and you add two units....... then the core unit only needs to gain 33% of the original amount it lost to get the account back to break even. If the unit gains 66% of the loss back, with the other two units you are now at a $1000 new equity high and can close the original.

Look at my demo account. The core position before the unwind was up like $6k. Now it is only up $2400. Yet I am making new equity highs because of the additional lots. Account now up $23k total

Close it and then do what? If I re-open right away then I am in the same boat I just got out of by paid extra spread.

If I wait for it to go down to where it would have dropped $1000 and re-enter that could work. But I also could miss out on money too. If I did that every time then the max I would be up on open positions is $1000, meaning the $2500 I am up now would not be $2500 but instead $1000. Thus meaning I would be $1500 worse off in the end, not including the spreads I would have paid opening and closing seemingly 5-10 times since I began.

When I closed all my add-ons this morning, my equity was 1% lower than my balance. Do I immediately add-on again when this happens? Thanks

OK, lets say you added 2 units...(core unit lost $1000) The core unit now gains 66% and you reach a new equity high of (original amt + $1000). After this new equity high is reached, are you now working from that number (orig amt + $1000)? So that if the equity now drops to (orig amt), you add two units?

Or, are you still working from (orig amt - $1000) to add two units?
