Timeframe difficulty

Dear fellow traders I have been facing a difficulty that is greatly affecting my future in the markets. It is called timeframe.I spent a few years developing a strategy that actually works, but it's becoming very tiring because it's an M15 timeframe. I wake up at 4:30 in the morning and sit in front of the screen until 11:15 and nothing happens.Because it is M15, things happen much slower, but I can't change timeframes, but it distorts my market analysis and I also don't see any logic in operating on a timeframe smaller than M15.

I have already increased the number of assets to possibly generate more opportunities, but nothing happens. Sometimes I spend more than 6 hours waiting for an opportunity to be configured and nothing.I would like to know if anyone has experienced this or if they see any possible solutions to solve this problem.In short: My operating system necessarily requires operating in M15, but I wait for several hours for a configuration and nothing happens. When it happens, I am off the screen, because I work formally.

I used to find trading exciting but once I started to become profitable it also became relatively boring. Trading is waiting patiently for your setup/s.
Setup alerts/ have alerts coded for you.
Put size on the trades when the setup occurs to justify and reward your patience ( with respect to your Risk appetite/MM )

Well, I used to trade using smaller time frames such as the M15 and like you have explained, it clues someone at a place for a long time. Personally, I decided to change what I am doing and that is to replicate the same thing using higher time frames but reducing my risks per trade and it helped. Another thing I might ask you to do is try to see if you can be getting notifications on the mobile with what you are using to trade, because that could help you to know when there is configurations of what you trades when you are not there. I hope you find some thing that will help you.

After a year of studying, I understood that the market does not give you good opportunities all the time. We do not have good movements happening all the time, so I chose the M15 timeframe, where we can really read the market's interest with little interference from high-frequency robots operating their thousands of orders below the 10-minute timeframe. I also chose to reduce the noise and focus on what the market is really showing us. But your price is fine. And the price I'm paying is an operational one with few opportunities.

Hello, I will try to do what you suggested. But my system also requires reading on my part. But I will try. Thanks for the suggestion.

But at the moment, I can't leave intraday, because I'm doing a FTMO test and I opted for daytrade operations. As soon as I pass this test, I'll buy a swing one.

Anything is possible. Just look into it and discover a means of getting this notifications and reading too while you are off to work. I believe that if you look out for the means or ways then you shall fine one. Best of luck with your trading!

Statistical Edge on the Strategy increases probability on the projection of direction. For example the options chain data will help you in the identifying potential future moves like GLD for XAU/USD or GC, FXY for JPY, SPY for SPX.

You could explore hybrid systems where you use M15 for entries but H1/H4 for context to broaden opportunities.

I’ve been there too. Trading on M15 can feel super slow and exhausting especially when you’re just waiting around for hours and nothing sets up. It’s even harder when you’ve got a job and can’t be at the screen all day. Maybe try setting up alerts so you don’t have to stare at charts nonstop? That helped me a lot. Or see if there’s a little room to loosen your setup rules without messing up the strategy. Sometimes we overfilter and miss good trades. You’ve clearly put in the work, so maybe a few tweaks can make it all less draining.

I'm amazed!!! You described 100% of what I'm going through. I changed some parameters to lose the essence of the system and let's say it became less tiring. Currently I use M15 to give me a location and with another system I execute the order in M5.

I've even thought about creating a robot, but my system requires the presence of a brain orchestrating the moment. It has many rules in the process of executing and conducting the order.

Updating, I am operating the Tokyo and Sydney sessions. And opening on average 1 to 2 orders per trading session.

This subject of timeframes is more complex than we can imagine. This is where that urban legend of fractals comes in, and many say that operating in 1 minute and 1 hour is the same thing. You, newbie who is reading this comment, don't fall for it. Because they are not the same. They may have similarities, but they are different.

If you do a poll with 10 people (equal to 10 minutes) and do another poll with 1440 people (1 day), which would be the most reliable result?

Of course, it involves other factors, but I will give you one more example. If you are in an order and some institution opens a very large order against you, do you think you will be able to withstand this swing or will you exit the order fearing something worse? But to swing a daily chart, do you think what order size will have to happen?

Therefore, the graphic times are not the same. It doesn't matter.

I already do it on H4. a volatility system.

Everyone has a unique way for trading, you need to find what works best and makes you feel most at ease. Either you will be fast or you will be slow, whatever is best for your psychology and your pocket.

I think almost every trader that has a full-time job goes through this, and also (in my humble opinion) every trader mistakenly tends to gravitate towards lower timeframes/day trading thinking that they'll get where they want to be quicker.
For a long time I struggled with working and trying to trade intraday. I've ended up going to higher timeframes like weekly/daily, and combining timeframes with different charting formats like renko and line break.
Now I'm convinced that 'less is more'.
I ignored trading higher timeframes for a long time thinking that there were would not be enough set-ups, but actually it's the opposite.
Trading m15 really limits the amounts of markets you can trade unless you automate everything, trading daily/weekly means I can trade loads of markets and don't need to be in front of the screen during the day so that's win-win for me.
I only realised all this after banging my head against a wall for way too long!

Perfect. We share the same thought. As I said, I also operate on longer time frames, such as H4, and I really like it. But I also operate intraday, which is M15, so as not to lose the market feeling.

It's always good to exchange experiences, as there's always someone who needs to read something like this.
