This is what happens when someone has Dunning Kreuger Syndrome. Such people think they know so much much more than the rest of us, when in fact they simply can't see beyond what their own ego is showing them.

I know there is more than one way to "skin this cat" called trading. I accept that and I stay in my lane, which is why you don't see me stepping into other FF members' threads and trying to impose my will on their work.

Those suffering from Dunning Kreuger cannot accept that their lane is but one of many possible lanes on which one may choose to travel. Such people can't help but think that their lane is the only lane worthy of travel.

From this point forward, at the first whiff that someone new to the thread is trying to push us out of our lane to make us travel in his, I will just send them straight to my ignore list.

Being polite only ends up wasting my time and causes me to do what I 100% want to avoid: Arguing with some anonymous stranger on the internet.

Handmade back test in progress for ORB Dax. I finished May, and will do June, and then April and March.

Here is the point of this post: A handmade back test will uncover price action behavior on your instrument that will provide clues that a machine compiled back test will miss unless you specifically ask the machine to look for that behavior. But without having been through the data by hand, you won't know to ask the machine to look for it.

There are virtues to being a point and click rule based trader.

DAX: winner, with an actual money management plan

Long:

- Price closes above the reference candle: I pull that trigger manualy according post 1. No other magic involved.
- Stoploss set at low of reference candle
- 2/3 of position: same size of reference candle
- When first target is met, SL moves to BE
- 1/3 of position: let it run as long as I feel comfortable.
- Short: vice versa

Probably end of next week I will post my 20+ trade report of June.

To be honest, anyone using ICT terminology makes my skin crawl and I immediately no longer trust anything they say about what they think they know about the markets.

What he is doing is really applying a Mebob sort of entry to a 5 minute ORB strat.

What's old is always new, especially in the Social Media Age.

I'll probably be able to trade the open this week most days. I'm a project manager for a construction company and we're shutting down to protect our people during this extreme heat. To the credit of the company owners, everyone of my guys and gals is getting paid during the work stoppage.

Here is a video of this morning's trade on the NQ. The 15 minute bar preceding the open straddled the previous day's settlement price, which is also last week's closing price. That is a great set up for at least a short term explosive move and that move can be in either direction. I was attempting to set the buy stop to go long, which you will see Ninjatrader rejected because one of Ninja's many flaws is that it will not allow you to enter bother a long entry and a short entry using the same pre-programmed money management strat. The short trade triggered, and I didn't set the long entry. Had the stop loss been hit, I'd have set the long entry.

No "displacement trades" not "order flow" no fictional "fair value gaps" were harmed or used in the making of this video. Just a 15-minute bar and a pivotal price level clearly visible on ANY daily and weekly chart whether you use candles, bars, or line on close charts.



I'm trading a prop evaluation account that I had hoped to pass by the end of May but the time to sit and trade has not been there, and a few days I ht my daily loss limit which, of course, slows the whole thing down. Once I do pass, and my work schedule again allows more or les daily trading, I am considering streaming my trading session live on youtube. I think I need a certain number of subscribers and total views for youtube to allow me to stream (I'm not sure about the requirements) but once I meet the requirements, I'll trade live.

Mebob SP500 - bugger all from a short.
Had five points and waited for more. Nope.
Edit: No "Fair Value gaps" were hurt during this trade

When I keep my spread sheets I like to track some form of Maximum Favorable Excusion (how far the trade moved in my favor from entry before reversing to take out a stop loss) and Maximum Adverse Excursion (how much did the trade move against my my position after entry without hitting the stop loss.

Tracking a .5X, or .618X, or 1X, where X is the range of the signal or set up bar is one way I like to do it.

This is where I had big problems in the past. Where should my stop go? When should I take profits?

Trailing stops and capturing the big moves SOUNDS great. But I believe attempting to capture more than the market is likely to offer is one of the biggest reasons most of us end of failing, system hopping, FOMO'ing, over leveraging, over trading ... in short, failure to track what a reasonable profit expectation is leads to all sorts of trader F* ups.

I use the 8:00 AM EST bar as my mebob. Then I wait for a 15M bar to close above or below the range and take the trade. So to answer you question it isn't. I was trying to find a bar that fit my lifestyle and this did the trick

What these fly-by-night Compter generated back testers miss is that almost any bar around a market's opening hours can have a positive edge if you add entry rules and money management appropriate for the bar interval and the market.
