Sorry about the occasional "dings" that sound off throughout. My work recently started using WhatsApp to communicate and that is what my notifications sound like.

Hopefully it is more clear now regarding how I look at things.

Just because it is the way I look at it, that doesn't mean there are not many other valid ways to use these two methods (fixed bar & reversal bar).

imo, what I show in that video makes for the most robust scalping methods I've come across in the nearly 20 years I've been chasing the dream.

Hi, I don't trade Mebob. If I'm not mistaken, first entry into short and stop loss. Candle 8.45 broke the range down, so entry is short at 8.50.
And entry long 9.25.

Hello esteemed members of the thread, I had a bit of freetime on my hand today and conducted an *incredibly scientific* backtest since early June to see how the 10:05 Mebob strategy stacks up against the widely spread 5 and 15min ORB strategies popularized. Please take this for what it is but it might give a bit of perspective. Here goes.

Manual backtest from 2 June to 18 June on MES (so altogether 13 trading days), targets were 1:1 RR and stop at other side of the range. Looked at 5min 9:30 EST candle breakout, 15min 9:30 candle breakout, Mebob 10:05 5min candle breakout and lastly, my personal favourite, a 1min candle close beyond the range of the 5min 10:05 candle and then if it gets triggered, stop at other end of the 5min candle's range and going for 1:1. If the first 1min candle doesn't get triggered, I wait for another close beyond the range that gets triggered.

Here are the results:

9:30 EST 15min candle ORB breakout: -53 points (ouch)
9:30 ST 5min candle ORB breakout: -69.75 points (even bigger ouch)
Mebob 10:05 EST 5min candle breakout: 40.75 points (oh yea)
Mebob 1min candle breakout of the 5min 10:05 candle: 58 points (who would'a thought?!)

Don't back test, just do it. Trade small or trade sim but treat it as real.

Sometimes it feels as though Forexfactory is 99.98% back testing addicts and .02% actual traders trying make a go of this.

Be one of the .02% since80808. You and I have been at it long enough. Now its time to get it!

Yes but
If I want to know how workable something on longrun I have to backtest. I can't spend a month or a year of my life to get know that something is good in several trades but fails in descreet use.

Then start another thread about back testing. This thread is about testing forwards for twenty trades.

Dude, you've been posting to FF since 2008, 17 years.

You can't spend a month developing the discipline to follow a trading plan? That's why 17 years later you're still chasing systems.

I don't mean this to insult you. I'm trying to wake you up.

I was there too. Years and years of chasing this system and that method, when all I needed to do was accept the risk, play through the losses, and stick to my rules.

The key element that no back test can capture is you.

As Blue has said, this thread is about execution. It is, in the words of tlip, a forward test of the 20 trade exercise.

I think you are close to getting it, which is why you're still here. Now, just come the rest of the way, it's just a small turn from where you're currently standing.

Discretion? No discretion.

It does make it difficult to discuss with you as you are posting markets and data to which I have no access (DE40?) and I don't know the standard trading hours for the instrument.

Timing, levels, behavior of price.

There is no discretion.

If you "see" discretion, then what you are really seeing is lack of rules and definition.

In addition to not knowing the time of the price action relative to the market's opening hour or two, you do not show any money management.
