I just read through this entire thread and wanted to say — this is one of the few strategies on FF that strikes a balance between structure and simplicity without falling into the trap of over-optimization or fluff.
I've mostly traded mean-reverting systems, but built mine around time decay and structured hedging, so it’s refreshing to see one that leans purely on price behavior.
Solid foundation on BB + RSI + stochastic alignment.
Following with interest — especially curious to see how this performs in low-volatility phases (where reversion can get tricky).

Gold Trade Breakdown
Trade 1 – Price crossed but didn’t close below the basis line. Personally, I would’ve avoided this one. But if you followed the rules strictly, it would’ve ended with a solid 2R gain.
Trade 2 – No clear structure for placing the stop loss, so this one’s a pass for me.
Trade 3 – A clean setup, but unfortunately ended in a loss.
Trades 4 & 5 – Price has already made its move before confirmation. If you’re a bit more conservative like me and wait for two yellow and two blue candles, you’d likely skip these. But if you’re on the aggressive side, there might have been some good entries.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful comment — really appreciate it. Totally agree on low-volatility environments. Reversion setups can just stall or fake out completely. But honestly, high volatility can be just as frustrating — price rips away and by the time the indicators confirm, the entry’s gone or the stop gets too wide. That’s why I try to use indicators like BB, RSI, Stoch, and MACD mainly as a framework for consistency, not rigid triggers. Over time, with enough screen time and journaling, you start spotting which setups need more confirmation and which can be taken with a bit more flexibility. Also — really curious about your approach with time decay and structured hedging. Sounds fascinating, especially since it adds a different layer of thinking to mean reversion. Here’s a more grounded breakdown of how this setup could’ve been approached — there’s no one “right” way, but some options were clearly better than others.

Setup 1: Standard entry without any broader context — ended up hitting stop loss.
Setup 2: Same entry, but with a more logical stop placed 2–3 pips above the previous week’s high. Since weekly, daily - highs/lows tend to act as price magnets, this would’ve required a much wider stop, not ideal, especially going into a Friday.
Setup 3: Entry taken after price tapped the weekly high and printed a strong rejection candle — this had better structure and context, and would’ve offered a cleaner risk-reward profile.

Appreciate the thoughtful reply — and I completely get what you said about both ends of the volatility spectrum.
When reversion setups drift instead of snap, or when high volatility makes entries uncatchable… that’s exactly where my system tries to adapt.
The core of my setup is position-based, not signal-based.
The edge comes not from “getting in right” but from staying structurally positioned in a way that **absorbs time**.
The setups don’t need to be frequent. They just need to be structured well enough that *decay becomes income and motion becomes optional*.
That’s why I stopped scalping. And why I rarely care what direction price moves anymore.
Would be happy to share a few examples — though I tend to let the equity curve do the talking.
If it’s appropriate within this thread, I’d be glad to post a sample equity curve (no links, no sales — just the visual).

Absolutely, feel free to share the equity curve. If you’re comfortable, sharing a few basic stats alongside it (profit factor, max drawdown, longest win/loss streak, etc.) would be super helpful too. Not to critique, just to help set realistic expectations for those following or thinking of integrating similar ideas. Sometimes the equity line looks smoother than the journey really is — so context adds a lot.

Final Trade Breakdown for the Week — Interesting Setups

Trade 1: Classic setup, ended at breakeven or take profit, depending on your style
Trade 2: Classic setup, hit take profit
Trade 3: Classic setup, ended at breakeven or take profit depending on your style
Trade 4: Not a clean setup — price crossed and closed below the basis line, but confirmation candle closed above it. Considering the worst case, it resulted in a loss
Trades 5 & 6: Price had already reacted and closed above/below the basis line before the setup
Trade 7: Classic setup, hit take profit
Trade 8: Invalid setup

Final thought: That’s 8 setups on just one pair in a single day — best to focus on the most clear and obvious ones.

What stood out to me most? The findings align almost perfectly with the philosophy behind reversionX, especially in the 5–15 minute zone where we operate.

Yes, it's definitely interesting and insightful with respect to mean reversion, especially that sweet spot between 2 to 30 minutes where reversion is most effective.
