Back-testing, testing and re-testing this strategy seriously I can say next (with still a respect to the author).

We try to catch a trend resversal just being based on price crossing MA5 at M5&M15. But such crosses arive often and are not significant. I agree that it could be profitable with R:R = smallSL:big_distance_to_the_nearest_Support_Resistance. But.
1. In strong trends there are too much small pullbacks returning price to the previous direction. Much more then count of real reversals. Even at first 1,5 hours of the market open.
2. In not such strong trends (finish of the trend etc.) the price crossing the MA is not a sign that the new trend began = nothing points that the price will move to the previous SR level.

Summarize: it's just another one MA-crossing-based strategy. Sorry but it has no base to work in mid or long term.

I actually agree with you on all your points, especially with this statement "R:R = smallSL:big_distance_to_the_nearest_Support_Resistance", however you would be surprise what technique works for some people and completely ruin other people.

As I often post, it is not in the entry, it is in smart MM and in controlling Mindfuck once you are in the trade.

Thank you for your back testing and review. My last 15 years of trading bands with positive results is enough for me to use this type of entry to get into trades. It is down to timing, higher time frame analysis and experience.
I see no point in continuing this thread.

whatever methods each individual trader uses for lower time frame trade entries, whether MA, trend line, channel, support resistance .......... etc.
they are just lower time frame entries and do not really matter what one uses, because price whipsaws in lower time frames and goes to where ever liquidity is present, not due to the indicators that one uses and gets married to it.

if a trader is able to select a higher time frame level to trade around with, that is able to match the big boys significant key level during a market session
that is the crux of the matter, whatnot the indicators that one uses in lower time frames.

I was the same at one stage of my life and my mentor told in in March 2011 to unlock the mental block in my head. That took me two years, first working only on my belief system and working on my mental strategies.

Learn to let go of things which are impediment in your life and your trading success. Go on and start your transformation journey as soon as possible.

Un-learning takes more time than the time your took to learn.
The re-learning part will be easy working on with your own knowledge, experience and wisdom.
It is all up to you now.

80808 is right in his critic. I am shure, that Island manage the strategy using all kind of add on analysis and hence make it profitable. But in it self it contains way to many false signals. I never intended to trade it because I do not have those manually skills. Made the helping robot anyway, just to be social.

Functions

You can choose to have a colour on the background in case of a signal.
Set the normalcolour (when no signal).
The alert colour (when there is a signal).

Now - what is a Trustbar? I am still not sure. When the bar before the signalbar close outside the band, it is a normal bar. The definition I have used is: When the bar before the signalbar opens AND close outside the band, it is a Trustbar.

I found this defination on the WEB: An Upthrust bar is a wide range bar seen during an up-trend when price makes a new high and closes strongly down on high volume. This bar could be compared to Bearish Engulfing candlestick chart pattern. That is not the definition used in this thread.

If you put all the pairs that Island trade on the screen, then you will see that many signals is made.

Asian session pairs I will trade are AU, AJ, UJ, EA, GA, EJ and GJ.
London Session pairs will mainly be GU and Dax, it just depend on what I see.
Now you can easily check the winrate using the strategy.

That is just not fair. 80808 is right in his critic and Island should know that he is right - that it takes more than Island has revealed to trade the strategy. That a simple backtest cannot tell if somebody can trade the strategy like Island can.

You gave me an idea. When I get some time some day I will make a test. I will make a robot that place 2 trades everytime there is a signal. 1 trade in the signal direction and 1 trade in the opposite direction. Then it will be revealed if signals matters. I will use M5 as many traders like it.

I understand the benefits of back testing it it vital to know if your system and strategy will be profitable.
However, what I don't like about back testing is it does not include the human element.
Was HTF analysis included in the back test?
Was re-entry if stopped out included in the back test?
What happens if you are unable to trade 3 days in the month when it was back tested?

There are too many traders here that want systems to fail so they can say I told you so.
While I was writing a complete trading guide all this week and test Alarm / Alerts EA I missed out on some great trades and had a heap of shitty losing trades. I was not able to back test this scenario.

Exactly. You cannot trade the signals as they are. You need to have more ways to judge the signals if they are valid or not. They are not valid just because the closing inside the bands. That is what 80808 show using backtest.

You literally propose to jump into MA-crossing trades and forget all the real trading experience about it (hello from TMS and Jamesagnew and a lot of other systems where you appear, show several screens and say you "would take it, the system is perspective"))) It's not a trading, sorry, it's not a system at all. I tested lots of your small ideas from different threads - all of them are good on several screeshots (often - without entry points, sl, tp - just ideas, arrows, philosophy and r:r hidsights) but loose if we apply them on 10-20 days in line. My best wishes to your mentor.

Sorry, it's not to destroy all the ideas and methods. I just summarise, see old and long ago worked out ideas and call things by their names.

Your negativity is no surprise to me. I knew this would happen when I made my post above to respond to your post.

You are bog down with your baggage of stuff you carry in the last 17+ years. He have too much emotions bottled up in you. Learn to let go of all the negative emotions.

We are not trading MA-crossing here.

There is no system in Trading Made Simple thread. It is a thread for the 5-Method.

There is also no system in Agnew Turn thread.

You need to learn how to read the price Bar chart or Candlestick chart. Here is price action trading in during the market session opening hours. Hope you know what this means.

All the threads which I participate in have all all the elements of the 5-Method. This is where people got it wrong , they do not understand because most people look at indicators for signals but do not learn how to use indicators to help them make trading decisions based on the core 5-Method.
