Target 30% ROI Monthly - GTS Smart Grid EA Trading

First of all, this Grid EA is not like traditional grid systems—it’s designed with built-in safeguards, so there’s no risk of blowing your account. It includes two key safety mechanisms:

1. Automatic trade closure upon trend reversal detection
2. Immediate trade closure if drawdown reaches 20% of the account

In this trading journal, I will document and showcase the performance of the GTS Smart Grid EA using the ForexFactory Trade Explorer. Currently, I’m running it on a demo account, as the EA is still under development.

Here are the results from last week. I didn’t open a separate demo account; instead, I used an old one to test the EA. So, to track its performance, please refer to the trading activity starting from May 6, 2025.

When I started running the EA, the account balance was $848, and it has now grown to $1,214. My target is to reach $8,000 while observing how it performs in challenging market conditions. If it proves successful, I plan to start a fresh live account in the near future.

Today’s overall ROI was 2.2%, with a profit of $27. However, due to a major bug in the grid level logic, a significant portion—about 2.5% or $31—was lost. Lesson learned, and I’ll be fixing this issue soon to prevent it from happening again. Since this Grid EA is still under development, I expect some imbalances in performance during the testing phase.

A major part of the EA’s logic has been changed and completely revamped from its previous version. However, some issues still need to be fixed. It crashed and caused a significant loss. I’ll now revert to an earlier version and run backtests to resolve these problems. Once stable, I’ll open a fresh demo account for the final trial.

I discovered a major issue—not in the EA’s logic itself, but in the entry settings. I tried to cut losses quickly by using a lower timeframe like M15, which led to premature trend reversal detection. In reality, the EA was getting caught in a ranging market, which became the primary reason for the losses.
To fix this, I’ve decided to shift to a higher timeframe for the exit logic. This will give the EA more room to make decisions, reduce market noise, and help avoid getting trapped in ranging conditions.
