Leaders have never stopped negotiating. There have always been trading negotiations in the world. That is why there are multilateral agreements within the WTO.

But what Trump presented was not a multilateral negotiation. He presented unilateral negotiations by force. Tearing up agreements is not the same as negotiating agreements... I have never negotiated by force... And I believe that courageous leaders do not do it either. Bullies, in my world, are chased away...

As for what he will say to the Japanese...He has been waiting for a chance to tell the Japanese off and then tariff them since the mid 1980s.

I can tell from my evaluation in Asia. Everyone agrees with the objectives of USA, but its the method and the way which is pissing all. Many here don't even consider this as a bully but rather stupidity.

I think we can all agree that DJT has antagonised many nations, this might have brought them to the table more quickly than they otherwise would have. But there cannot be a single nation in it's dealing under this administration that believes they can trust the outcome - so many years in building up trust gone in a matter of weeks. Whatever anyone agrees, they now know a president has the power to tear up that agreement if that's what he/she chooses. That's not a great platform from which future trust can be built & despite the massive opportunity the the US consumer offers I suspect many companies will stop short of trying to break into the USA -the net result might be a slightly more level playing field but the game might be played out elsewhere. Bullies, & he is one, don't earn respect - they take advantage.
