And once again: I look several pairs and catch more cases in less time. I trade successfully real money with my own system for many years and use FF for my interest and to get new ideas. I can monitor more than one pair

Anyway. I ask questions (reading and searching before), ask them kindly. Answers? Hints? No. Ok, I'll continue to read and ask questions waiting for other traders to write something.

Thanks for such a detailed response Michael I appreciate the time it took to respond. I actually got to the chart when candles G and H were printing. I remember reading somewhere that you reposted that if a new high/low is made then you shouldn't trade for that period in my case for the next 15mins not the hour. I will see if I can find that post. I think you posted that you shouldn't trade for the next hour but then TS responded to a post and said you could but not the current timeframe bar? Im probably wrong as I've been trying to catchup through the thread.

Hey Michael, just to clarify, if the 1H candle creates a new high or low of the day, then there is no buy or sells for that hour?

Looks like you have it right. (that's rhyming, I think )
I'm a poet and don't know it (sorry lol)
As you indicated, the EURUSD trade was correct. The spread would have dictated if you had enough "room" to get on at the Lowest H1 Open price but YES, a valid trade.
Again, the GBPUSD was NOT a valid entry for the reasons you indicated.

Hey Crows. I'm from the land under the Land Down Under. The South Island. Good old Tassie. I grew up in QLD but got sick of the heat, storms, traffic, and crowds. I moved here nearly 20 years ago. Only about 500,000 people on the whole island, so happy days for me.
If you don't mind, I will look at each of those posts separately as it's a bit time-consuming.
Let's have a look at post 2985.

What I was indicating to that bloke was that the trade he was looking to take wasn't valid.
Please refer to his chart below.

Have a look at the H1 first.
Ignore everything after candle A for the moment.
At the time candle A closed, it had printed the Lowest H1 Open.....and...the Days low so far.
SO. The Area Of Interest (AOI) was between the Lowest H1 Open and the Day's low.

Then, candle B opened and printed a NEW Lowest H1 Open.
The day's low from candle A remained the same. So A NEW AOI was printed.
We now look for an M15 candle to open in the New AOI to validate a trade entry at the Lowest H1 Open price.
A glance over at the M15 chart shows a valid trade (Entry 1) that would have provided a result.
Had that bloke put his trade on then, he would have been a happy chappy.
The last M15 candle of that hour would also have provided a valid trade (entry 2) for a few pips.

Then candle C came along. Remember that the AOI HAS NOT changed, so we are still looking for an M15 candle to open in the AOI.
But the very first M15 candle for that hour ruined the party when it shot down and took out the previous day's Low.
In doing so, it invalidated the previous AOI, so NO valid trades would/could appear for the remainder of THAT hour.
Simply because you no longer have a valid AOI to play with.
It appears from that bloke's chart, that the new low that printed from candle C held for that hour, so another NEW AOI would have been printed.....which could then have been looked at for an opportunity.
BUT. His particular trade was NOT valid at that time for the above reasons.
Entry 1 and 2 were valid but not his entry.

A clarification about Rule1.
When a "H1" bar print a new daily high (in the example below D1[0] High=1.29971) we are not allowed to take any trade for the rest of the hour on that pair even if at the end of the hour is remaining 59 minutes.
In the example below "H1" will end after "0h 26m 14s" so is necessary to wait "0h 26m 14s" before considering any trade on that chart.
In other words is necessary to wait for the next "H1" bar.

Do I interprete correctly Rule1?

It's ALL about the Area of interest.
The AOI is valid ONLY UNTIL a new daily high/low is printed. Then it's a case of wait and see.

In this example, you can see that AT THE TIME, candle A had printed the day's high.
When candle B opened, it printed the new Highest H1 Open for the day. In doing so, it also showed the AOI (1) AT THAT TIME.
As you can see, there were no opportunities presented as the price then dropped away from the AOI.
Merka had to wait until candle C came back to the area, but it went on to print a NEW daily high, and in doing so, showed a new AOI (2).
Doing that invalidated the AOI 1.
Then candle D opened and printed a NEW Highest H1 Open.
But it then went on to print a NEW daily high.....thus invalidating AOI 2. Therefore.....NO valid AOI.....therefore NO valid trade opportunities for the remainder of THAT hour.
Note: No idea what it would have looked like on the M15, for example, as my brokers' feed doesn't allow me to go back that far.

Sorry Mate. Not sure what TS was intimating there on post 3083, but again not a valid trade as the new daily high was printed and negated the AOI.

Hi Michael,
i'm one of those silent types, reading a lot and busy getting rid of indies etc. HOLO caught my attention, so reading this thread as well.
Your posts are quite helpful, as are the charts of TS, so i thought supplying a chart of that particular day (as well as the data from FxOpen, my broker) might be of some use to further explain the point you were making on the H1 chart.

I'm interested because i'm working on a signal /alert tool that warns me when something noteworthy happens ;-)

Why do we have rules?

Rules help us learn.

Rules help to keep us out of trouble.

Some rules are "hard" rules and some are "soft".

Some rules you learn by reading or by the words and actions of a teacher.

Some rules you learn through experience.

The rules of HOLO were "made up" by another trader. Some traders follow those rules exactly, and some modify those rules.

You can commit to learning HOLO and mastering it or not. That is your choice.

During the challenge, you are only to trade the same pair.

Beginners do not get to trade multiple pairs until they have mastered trading one single pair.

Ok I see, so would that apply to buying and selling? I understand once price creates a current low of the day that would cause the AOI for buying to become invalid for the current hour, but I'm wondering if in the same hour if price goes into the selling AOI would that be valid?

If a Low of the day occurs would that cancel all buys and sells for the hour, or just buys?
If a High of the day occurs would that cancel all sells and buys for the hour, or just sells?
