That's an exciting start that can, unfortunately, sometimes be a prelude to longer-term "accidents," like the people who walk into a casino in Vegas for the first time and put $100 at roulette on number 8, and number 8 immediately comes up.

A great start, and it shows what's possible. But how many of those people are in profit 3 hours later, or 3 days later, or 3 weeks later?

Two big, important things worked for me.

I hear they also work for many other people (that's "on a regular basis," isn't it?).

The first was learning not to try to trade a system with money until I'd forward-tested to a point of statistical significance on a demo account, and not to forward-test anything on a demo account until I'd backtested it extensively enough, myself, to know that it was worthy of the much slower and more difficult process of forward-testing it (unfortunately, learning this involves first learning and fully understanding what "statistical significance" means, and for most people that really isn't a simple or fast or trivial process!).

The second was gradually coming to understand that the few people who really can trade with steady success have absolutely no interest at all in spending their time posting videos on Youtube, and nothing to benefit from doing so (to some people - hopefully including your wife - this is very readily apparent and obvious; to others, it's something they don't want to believe and some will even spend years resisting it and disputing it - those people's helpful, meaningful trading education doesn't really even start until after they've changed their minds about this!).

I hope it helps. It certainly helped me a lot, when I was told all of it. To be honest, I don't actually think I'd ever have managed to trade sensibly without it.
