hi everyone , i am looking for a counter trend price reversal indicator.

what indicator are you using to predict price reversal

for example RSI or MACD or Boligerband or support-resistance

can you please share it with me?

We need more information.

Forex, Futures or Stocks?
Intraday charts under 5 minutes or longer time frames like the 1 hour chart or Daily charts.
Are you a scalper or a trader that likes to hold for days?
What sort of % return would you like to achieve per month.
Are you a risk taker or conservative?

Market don't care what you want or don't want.
How many predictions come true ? Indicators fail too.
Indicator / divergence told that level must hold and we must turn away.

Maybe better way is to react ? You have a level price stops and starts to move away and you take a trade.
Price moving / reversing at the level is best indicator that you can have.

1. Price tried to go higher but failed
2. Price moving away from level - you don't need indicator to see that or confirm it.

Also 10/20 EMA traders are stupid. I am smart I use 9/20EMAs and front run then and get signal sooner.
And indicator chase begins Idea I better use 10SMA / 20EMA it give earlier signal too.
And lets add MACD to too , to confirm EMA signal. And endless indicator journey continues.
I need to eliminate losses - I can take only 2 small losses.

Better focus on basic TA. Support / resistance and candle formations.

A good predicting indicator for future price action is Donchian Channel Width. Predicting because DC and DC-Width are based on pure price and are non-lagging, DCW truely projects future action. 90% of indicators are in one way or another based on Moving Averages and lag, they can't predict anything. Not so DCW.

What DCW can't do: it can't tell you in which direction price will break out. It can only tell you in advance when volatility is going to rise in the near future, but not the direction. Determining the right direction of the next move is a skill no indicator can give you.

Look at the screenshot: Whenever DCW starts narrowing down and makes a lower low, you know that in the near future volatility will rise again and price will move. Imho it's the most reliable indicator for projecting the future. Look at every large price move in the image. Before each move DCW made a lower low. It requires some practice to read it. The most difficult thing is when you enter the market and your assumed direction is wrong. You do not have much time to flip your position. But usually the move is large enough to bring you back to BE or better. Still, it requires practice.

Hi tienvip

Gold, I trade Gold (Futures) as one of my 3 markets so I can be useful to you.

Trade on M5 (I trade M2)
Add a VWAP onto the Chart showing all bands.

Look for a candle which seems to be the highest or Lowest candle.
When you see a candle which appears to be the highest or lowest candle in a trend, place a line under OPEN (or at wick).

Don't enter straight away, place a Limit order at that line and wait for a retest of this area. Stop is of course at end of wick.

This works well for me other than I trade with Volume data which is another story.

If you don't like VWAP, try a Bollinger Band cross using the same idea. Good Luck

PS. I forgot to say be prepared to take a loss or two on first attempts before you will make it all up on your third attempt. You only need one good spike to make your day.

Actual trade example. I assumed a breakout to the long side - and was wrong. My rules say to have a SL at the opposite DC breakout, that's the red marker. But I was so puzzled about the wrong direction that I reacted too late. Finally I realized the loss and switched. I didn't expect to recover my loss because I violated my SL rule.

In the end I closed the position with a nice profit, and look what happened. If I had hold longer it would have been a large winner. Coulda woulda shoulda...
Or as we say in Germany: "Hätte hätte - Fahradkette!"

Dear, I would like to ask you for the DC-Width indicator which is in a separate box and if you are willing to explain to me the reason for entering the position from your posted graph. Thank you in advance

That's essentially two DCW indicators in one window, a blue one with Periods=45 and another magenta one with Periods=40.
Purpose: The DCW(40) signals 5 minutes earlier and allows me to peak a little into the future, as 5 minutes later the DCW(45) will almost always follow. See the screenshot of the indicators window.

Why did I enter? Because the DCW made a new low, lower than the low before. Essentially that means the Donchian Channel contracted below the max previous contraction, and will expand in the near future. In other words, to expand price must widen the existing channel which is only possible if price moves out of the channel. Now I have to decide in which direction I expect the Donchian Channel to expand. I explained that above.

As for the attached ZIP file. The indicator must be copied to your "mql4/indicators" folder, the two libraries must be copied to your mql4/libraries folder.
To find it, click Main menu -> File -> Open Data Folder.

Hi. I have seen stand-alone so-called' trend reversal' indicators posted here, but never used one personally. The question re going against a trend that may exist on one or more (higher) t/f's; is whether any move against the trend that may occur, is a pullback in the trend, or a complete reversal of the trend, and only price action on subsequently higher t/f's than the one you took your anti-trend entry on can tell you that. Re hi-probability ways to go against the trend, consider using a combination of the following;

1. Potential support/resistance on a higher t/f to that you are taking your entry from, so on a 5min entry/exit trigger look @ 30min/1hr and 4hr.
2. Price action at 1. above, supported by;

a. Price's relationship to it's ADR
b. Oscillator divergence and/or extreme readings
c. Breech of a channel (s.)

You know the old adage though - better to try and get with the trend (which is your 'friend till the end when it bends.') So, assume it's a pullback in the trend until PA on subsequently higher t/f's from that used for entry tells you otherwise. Ie; Assume it's a pullback until PA tells you otherwise.

You did nothing wrong. There was an ugly bug which showed up if the terminal was started in non-portable mode.
Fixed it. Please re-download and try again.

I downloaded the superbars indicator too from other thread of yours.I am unable to load that.Do you mind supporting that pease.Also can you share the inside bars H1 (sound) indicator and template for the one you haave shown here so it can be replicated please.TIA

Yes, will update it. In between most of the code I published here is probably broken. Also many links to the sources I posted now lead to a 404 page and I have no way to update those posts. So I will create a separate thread for my stuff, where the current version of everything is in post #1. Only the first post of a thread can be updated forever.

I trade gold too. Levels you market are in line with basic TA. Support/Resistance levels.
Everybody sees the levels but only few see VWAP bands.
My logic maybe wrong - but the more people see something, the more people make trading decisions base on it.
I say - price move way because all see the levels and toke trades off of it.


Pay attention 1,2,3 volume coming in at horizontal levels and price makes swing highs and lows.
