Hi all,

Im trying to better my understanding of market structure, I understand the basics but I keep fumbling on getting the general direction of the trend and its phases

Don't waste your time. That stuff doesn't work. The fact that you keep fumbling is proof of this. TA used to work great, but it isn't as effective as it used to be (not in Forex).
Learn from your mistakes and march on.

there is more content and information than you need and much better than any random poster here on FF

It's better if you send a screenshot of what you were thinking, what your understanding was, and ask why it worked out or didn't work out. Because it's something you were already studying and someone could tell you why your structure was right or why it was wrong. It's better than someone just start telling you about something because they have no idea what you already know, or don't know.

Market structure in forex refers to the way price moves—either in an uptrend, downtrend, or sideways. In an uptrend, price makes higher highs and higher lows, while in a downtrend, it makes lower highs and lower lows. The trend phases typically include an accumulation phase (sideways movement), a strong impulse phase (beginning of the trend), a continuation phase (healthy trend), and an exhaustion phase (end of the trend). To determine the general direction, focus on the recent highs and lows, identify if they’re getting higher or lower, and look for pullbacks during a strong trend to enter trades.

market is simply how the price moves like how human works in steps, market moves in swings which can be either swing low or high.
Those swing high or lows can be also either in a bullish or bearish side
-In a bullish side, we will see the swing highs are being taken (broken) continuously as an indication that the bulls are in control (bullish structure).
-In a bearish side, we will see the swing lows are being taken (broken) continuously as an indication that the bears are in control (bearish structure).
And as we know that the market won't always straight up or down it has to make pullbacks before the continuation, and when there is an indecision in the market we likely to see no clear move which is either up or down instead of side way movement of price (ranging structure).
One of the most confusion is that it is being said that in bullish we are only looking for buying and in bearish we only looking for selling, and reality is that not every bullish is for buying and not every bearish is for selling, coz sometime you can buy something which is so expensive and it is at the area of dropping and on other hand you sell something that is very cheap and it is at the area of rising even though it is a bearish market.
The key is that not only the market structure will make you understand the market, clear knowing where is turns out and where it will continue to trending are the thing you need. i was like you before.
I am a Btmm trader who i trade market structure with the combination of TDI and conting, so for me it makes all sense. Thanks and sorry for my bad English.
