I will not be part of toxicity, and I am not here to attract anything. The attraction is for demo day traders, like the one's on youtube they rent a big house, expensive cars, and see the nonsense. I am here to share what I learn which is fundamental analysis, and making a fundamental case, something that actually does work. I will subscribe to these members that subscribed to me, because I am thankful for their support, and I will support them. I don't need to be popular, I am already in trading business, and I learned it from people that are educated and that are professional traders. That is what matters, don't need popularity, this is trading and investing. I do understand your statement, and I agree with you.

Trading isn’t hard if you know how to do it. Just like 2 + 2 isn’t hard unless you don’t know what 2 is or what the + sign means. Without enough understanding, even something as simple as 2 + 2 is impossible to do.

The same with trading. If you don’t understand enough, it’s going to feel random. That doesn’t mean trading itself is broken. It just means you haven’t learned enough yet.

To show how simple Forex can actually be, I put together a separate system over the weekend using a public indicator from ForexFactory using 0.10 lot size per trade. So far on the first day, it had a 100 USD drawdown, and right now it’s around 300 USD in floating profit. The method is simple. Even a 5 year old could understand it if you showed them the indicator on MT4 or MT5.

The point is, this is a game that can be beat. A lot of people make it harder than it needs to be by using too many indicators or trying to combine too many things. If you’re going to use an indicator at all, use only one so you don’t confuse yourself. That’s my advice.

It’d be ironic funny if this thread went from Quitting Forex to Joining Forex. It would be great if it turns into people talking about why to get into trading Forex instead of why to stop. If this simple indicator system keeps working for the next 3 to 4 weeks, making around 500 USD a day with less than 500 USD in DD, I might consider sharing it here. It’s so simple that even I’m surprised.

You have presented me with statistics on day trading but not long term trading statistics... what should I compare with what to determine the superiority of one approach to the market over the other?
I would like to see such a comparison based on the number of trades, NOT THE TIME. For example, 1000 trades using the day trading methodology and 1000 trades using the long term methodology... only such a study would tell us statistical superiority of one method over the other.

I’d say it did good enough on day one, hitting 900 USD for now. I can’t test it tomorrow since I’ve got a lot going on and won’t be home, but I’ll definitely check it again on Wednesday. I’ve got a feeling it’ll hold up, for at least 500 USD.

If you’ve made any progress at all in Forex, it’s worth building on it. Stopping now would be like doing three years of a four year degree and then quitting in the third year. What would be the point of that? Forex isn’t something to walk away from. Even if you’re not going to trade real money anymore, keep practicing on demo. That experience builds over time.

It’s probably better if I keep testing it on demo on my end so you’re not tempted to trade real money with it. I’ll keep demo testing and update here. I know a lot of people look down on demo, but they’re very useful. Even if you’re trading live, it’s best to always demo test something.

Fun fact. I saw Kriel, the founder of IoT/ ITPM about 15 years back in a huge FX expo. He was busy telling the world that you could day trade FX for a few hours daily and become rich and it was so easy, any muppet could do it. Selling over-priced rudimentary TA courses, fleecing loads of newbies into handing over bucketfuls of cash.

Now he's moved onto discretionary macro.

I read the first five items that describe your preferred trading style and it reminds me ad nauseam of the stories of the owner of Berkshire Hathaway, whom I respect and admire.

The term "tend" is very imprecise and based on the assumption that you can't have a sense of the market, but if you do, the claim is invalid, right?

The assumption that day trading is emotional trading is also quite imprecise because, for example, if someone doesn't get emotional, the claim is not true.

The S@P 500 index is a great example of price growth. However, how much did the average car cost 20 years ago and how much today? How much did a small family home cost when and how much today... in 2000 gold was around $260-270 today it is over $3100 and the S&P500? From about 1000 to 6000...

You say it's better to buy and hold, sorry invest... I'm 74 and retired, do I have to wait 20 years? For what? For uncertainty after all... (I assume I'll live).
However, in recent years like 2018, 2020 and 2022 have ruined many investors... is the next market crash not just around the corner?

Short-term trading allows far more flexibility

I have to express my opinion that Long-term investing and Day trading are slightly different beasts. But both of these forms are beasts. Trading and investing are skills that you either have or don't. Some are able to learn them and many unfortunately do not. And that's really all it's about. In my opinion, short-term or long-term trading is just as dangerous... maybe it's safest to stay on the market for the shortest possible time? Long-term investing is just a time bomb, which is why we see explosions less often…

These people all have credentials as actual trader/investors. Comeback and talk when you have their education and experience. But you never will, because you are a demo day trader, and that is all you will ever be. With that mindset, you will never experience what it is like to actually trader and invest for a living. Keep day trading, that will get you nowhere. Just like Anton said, this industry is toxic and full of fake day traders. I don't need this FF account, here. I am leaving, enjoy this retail demo day trading toxicity, that is all you have on here. Take care.

Not a problem, that is just your opinion and only opinion. I go by results and facts. You will never make full time income day trading. Take care.

I’m going to stop posting about this but as a last update, it passed day 2 of demo also, reaching 500 USD with less than 200 USD DD. I think the point has been made not to give up on Forex too early. It is a game that can be beat.
