Hi All,

Im currently on 27 inch Monitor, 1920 x 1080 Res

Im looking for something bigger cause i cannot see the candle sticks when i zoom out to see more Data....im constantly having to Scroll to draw my Zones Back and Forth.

I use a combination of Order Blocks + R&S + Fibos....can anyone offer advice on a Monitor Size and Suitable Res to get More Candle Sticks and still be able to see the Colours and Shape of the Candle Sticks

I have 2 27 inch monitors, which are amply sufficient to see the candles, wtf lol. I also have a 49inch 4K tv as my 3rd screen, that I now seldom use but I place the roughly 6 instruments that I'm following for the day.

If you need to need to squeeze so much data / bars on the screen, just jump to the next TF, that's what they are for, there's no use having microscopic bars just to have more lookback. But if you want to upgrade, the obvious choice would simply go for a 4K monitor. At the same size as yours, it would be more than enough.

To see more information you need more pixels.
To distinguish one pixel elements (such as candle wicks) you need higher pixel pitch (or pixel size) and good eyesight The pitch on most high resolution monitors is 0.182mm. The colors you choose can also influence as do the contrast capabilities and settings.

If you find the pixel too small you can remedy with a software zoom window or a physical magnifying device (goggles) of appropriate focal length (very expensive if you seek a proper one).

I use two UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) monitors, 32" and 28" and a software zoom window. The 32 is a Dell S3221. As for panel tech. go for VA.

If you want better single pixel visibility, directly, maybe the Dell S3422DW 3440 x 1440 with pixel size 0.23175mm That would be 2.4 times more information. Probably bigger pixels? You didn't say what is the pixel size of your current monitor.

Search the Internet with the exact model name and "monitor specifications".

PS. Or you can actually measure your monitor's display area along the major axis, in millimeters, and divide by your resolution, 1920.

PPS. Or maybe I can calculate it :
Opposite / Adjacent = 1080 / 1920 = 0.5625; hypotenuse = diagonal = 27" = 685.8mm
Angle between major side and hypotenuse = arctan 0.5625 = 29.358°
Major side = 685.8 Cos 29.358 = 598mm
Your monitor's pixel pitch = 598 / 1920 = 0.311mm


PPPS. Or I can look at another 27" 1920 x 1080 monitor such as this one https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/ac9439e4 and, quite surprisingly, the pixel pitch is exactly what I calculated.

Are there high res. monitors with pixels that big or more? (Proper computer monitors not TV sets or showroom ad. boards!)
If so tell me about it, I'm interested.
If not, either:

  1. go for multiple big pixel HD monitors, or
  2. compensate the smaller pixels with software zoom (It's what I do), or
  3. set up your charts to display as two pixels what would be one pixel, trading information for visibility of detail... but if you go for UHD 3840 'x' pixels, 0.182mm pitch, you would use up the entire doubling of 'x' axis information, for a only a 17% increase in wicks thickness (0.182 *2 / 0.311 = 1.17). If you have a lot of money to spend, you could get a Samsung Odyssey S57cg943nu, 7680 x 2160 monitor, you would get the 17% increase in detail and a doubling of 'x' axis information (check the video card requirements!). Or a much more affordable Lenovo P40W-20 40" WQHD 5120 x 2160, 17% more detail visibility and 33% more information...

Instead of just focusing on size or resolution, try improving your monitor’s refresh rate (e.g., 144Hz) and color gamut for smoother, clearer candlesticks. A dual monitor setup can also help, with one screen dedicated to detailed charts and the other for broader data, reducing the need for constant scrolling.
