Will Brokers Close MT4 Soon?

Hello, fellow traders!

I’m seeking your insights on something that has been on my mind recently. As we know, MT4 has been the go-to trading platform for years, trusted by millions of traders worldwide. However, with the increasing popularity of MT5 and brokers gradually encouraging traders to migrate, do you think brokers might eventually decide to discontinue MT4?

The reason I’m asking is that I’m planning to invest a significant amount soon, and my trades usually remain open for extended periods. If brokers decide to close MT4 while I have active positions, it could create complications for me in terms of transitioning accounts or adjusting my trading setup.

I understand that MT4 is still widely used, but the possibility of it being phased out concerns me. Have any of you faced similar thoughts or issues? Are there brokers who have hinted at such a move? How are you planning to manage this potential challenge, if at all?

Your opinions and experiences would be highly valuable. Looking forward to hearing from you all!

If you are with a regulated broker and is protected you'll be fine. As even if they did discontinue the MT4 Terminal. They will either transfer everything to MT5 keeping trades open. Or they will call you and email you to close all trades whilst they Close MT4 down and move over to another terminal.

If you are not with a regulated broker then anything can happen.

Metaquotes has already experienced HARSH backlash trying to force MT5. They could actually be heavy handed this time but after being 3rd degree burned it'll be a pretty slow transition. They stopped selling MT4 servers years ago. Support will eventually follow then bugs will make stragglers finally change over. Unregulated will probably always have it.

You'll have PLENTY of warning. Also MT5 is much better just for the more tradeable time frames. Prob best retail platform on planet for robot creation and backtesting. Everything else SUX compared to MT5
