Welcome to my new thread, I will discuss here regularly about insights and the strategy, ideas and suggestions are welcomed here to see if there is possibility to further enhance the strategy. Why is it called "Married QQQ"? If you are familiar with option trading, there is a strategy called "Married Put", basically it is a strategy that involves buying the QQQ stocks (you are Long in this trade), at the same time you also buy a Put option (you are Short in this trade).
The Long trade has unlimited upside potential, while the Short trade you are paying a sum of money upfront and it is capped. A rough example is that if the cost of Put Option is $1,000 , if the market goes up enough, the profit from your stocks may reach about $2,000 , minus the Option Cost you will gain a net profit of $1,000 . Yes, buying option can be expensive, but the price is worth it for peace of mind, if there is a stock market crash, the Put Option would have protected you from massive losses and you live to trade for another day, especially if huge sums of money is involved.
I have deposited slightly above $20,000 into this strategy since early Oct 2024, and has been operational for 3 months as of writing this post. So far the result is good and within expectations, current trajectory is about 4-5% monthly, which translates to about 50% return per year, it can be more, it can be less.
You are welcomed to check my Trade Explorer regularly to track my progress, I have included it in my Signature for transparency. My short term goal is to be consistently profitable up to 1 year, and I have completed 3 months of profitable trading as of writing, 9 more months to go.
A brief background about me and the strategy as below:
After many years of trial and error, eventually I realized I have been chasing the wrong thing, while the holy grail is just under my nose, hidden in plain sight. I have been on and off trading forex in my early trading journey, buy/sell decisions were based on what I learned about TA, but without solid risk management and logical price targets. Then at some point I bumped into a risk management content and opened up my mind, I no longer blow my trading account, but the reality is I am just bleeding slowly, because of the need to be correct in picking directions to win the trades, the favorable R:R ratio and good risk management skills are not helpful if you still cannot consistently pick the correct direction. And even if you chose the direction correctly, the trade may hit your SL first before going in your direction. Overall the conditions are all stacked against you, the only winner here is brokers, they earned your commissions and fees.
"The trend is your friend" as many have said. Now, I wholeheartedly agree. What if I tell you that there are assets that trends up most of the time? And all you do is just press Buy and get profit? Yes, if you are familiar with the stock market, the assets that I am talking about are S&P500 and QQQ, and so on. I did a simple calculation on the probability, refer to the picture below that is part of my own spreadsheet document.
More details about the strategy will be shared when I have more time to write, stay tuned.
And yes, this is not financial advice and it is intended for educational purpose only, and you are responsible for your own financial decision and conduct your own due diligence. =)
