VTAM, I'm doing this a little differently. I have a very small account so I am entering with double the lots you recommend, but martingaling with much lower figures. I'm hoping this has the overall effect of increasing reward while reducing the risk. I'm not giving out specific numbers because I do not want to detract from your wonderful system here. I'm just showing it can be modified very slightly when needed.

Up 6% this week, while Yen still sinking.

From what I have read here, you would consider adding to all your positions if your equity in a 100,000 account had a drawdown of $1,000 (1%) Do you use this $1,000 from the peak equity in the account. So lets say your core positions took you from $100,000-$105,000 then you dropped down to $104,000 you would add to your positions? If this is correct, have you found an effective way to know what the equity high in the account has been if you are not watching it all the time? Ideas and help appreciated

Pemby - that is correct on when to add. I do not watch it all the time, only when I get up in the morning and when I go to bed around the London open. If you miss a $1000 drop and it moved back up, oh well. There will be times you are not around and it drops $1000. Since you weren't around to add, it drops to -$2000 and you add at a better price! In the end it works out. This system require about 5 minutes of maintenance every day.

Oh yeah - as you can see below, new equity highs! And this while the yen pairs are unwinding a bit. They are down about 4-500 pips in a few days!

What time of the day do you check the value of the basket to see if it has increased or decreased by $1000, close of the day or any other specific time? As you know the value is fluctuating intraday and you cannot watch it all the time.

Also if the initial holding of the basket is 0.2 for each pair (core) and the value drops to $99000 from 100k without going up first do you add another 0.2 or another 0.4 to each pair?

I check it when I wake up and before I go to bed, that's it. It doesn't matter when you check. You will see it actually doesn't fluctuate a lot during the day. Even when a pair drops 100 pips, the basket may not change much. You might only get 2-3 chances to add per month.

Yes - if it starts at $100k and drops to $99k, you would put on a .4 lot. If it then goes to $96k you would add a .8 lot - to each and every pair.

Thanks for clarifying.

As I mentioned yesterday I do not have NZD, so I set up the basket with 12 pairs, it is still a lot swap positive, of course NZD would have helped more.

The attached image only shows three core holdingsm it looks like it is cut off. Can you post an image of all the core holdings. It looks like the screen needs to be scrolled up.

Has anyone taken profit on single pairs during the day ?
I have noticed some pairs after around 6pm Eastern time when things have slowed that showed 115 pips positive and with small spreads using Oanda can anyone see any reason not to take the large profit and then reenter right away. I have done this several times over the last few days and have seen no negative from it. Am I missing someting that would be negative to Chartguys system?

I was wondering why that is, because I thought all positions were to be intrest positive...

The additonal three that are negative were from my study to try and minimize risk. I wanted to protect against the unwinding of the yen carry trade for example so I sold the CHFJPY thus getting me long some Yen. They are just protective measures is all.

I am sure a good trader could game more profit from this by reading charts. I wanted to build a pure hand off model though. Someone with no trading experience who can do basic math can come in and start trading this method and make 4% a month. I was selling this for $199 on my site, with the newbie trader in mind, but instead thought I would give it away. It's my contribution to the fellow trader. No need to learn how to read indicators or get a "feel" for the market. Pretty much math based.

I do have a request though, for the many of us who have started to demo. your method in the past week or so could you let us know the next time you have a drop or increase in the equity, I would assume most have the same pairs as you so this would let everyone be able so see, what seems like one of the most important part of your system.

I broke it down to find out where you are long and short. Here is the results. I think it may be too heavy long USD and short CHF.

Long Short
EUR 2 3
USD 5 1
AUD 2 1
GBP 2 1
CHF 0 4
JPY 1 2
CAD 0 1
NZD 1 0

If you eliminate the USDCAD and NZDUSD, you are then long USD 4 lots and short 0.

I'm not criticizing the basket, just trying to make sense of it. It should probably be adjusted when interest rates and swap amounts change, but those changes are like a cruise ship truning around, takes a while.

Has anyone figure out the minimum acct size to trade this starting with 1 mini lot? Could it be done safely with $20000?
