This can only be possible in a slight chance with small or tiny accounts but for large accounts, this is just plain stupidity.

yes this is correct because you WILL run out of lot size on a big account eventually and get your trades blocked. every broker is different but id be maxing out on lot sizes of around 100-200 on majors and lower than that on minors but we're talking an account that's over 1 mil and i doubt many, if anyone , on this forum keeps a live account balance that big on the retail side

And thinking more about this, you'd be better off NOT going for percentage goals per day and going for point(or pips) per day. because the market is only going to move within its range.

and you're better picking off a smaller point amount of that range because markets move in points not percentages. they can measure percentages, but ultimately it moves in points/pips

if you risk no more than 2% a trade and for example the instrument you're trading moves maybe 100 pips a day based on the X day average, maybe pick 10 pips profit +/- per day as a goal and adjust it daily as the X average ATR does change daily. you'd have more success that way. at least that's what i'm observing in forward testing

This thread seems a little meaningless, looking at return without considering risk makes no sense, see the metric used by hedge funds RoMaD, Return over Maximum Drawdown, it's an excellent way of comparing investments with regards to both risk and return.

I literally have thousands of templates none of which are a grail or anything even close. I think it comes down to many, many chart hours and whatever indicators work for you to make the moves discernible. Definitely like indicators though, and FF has many. I do wish I had money to trade with as opposed to this just being a hobby, but then I don't see this market surviving for very long with all the changes that abound. Good luck to all of us, we'll definitely need it.

Made mistake today and took a trade on the wrong demo account, so decided to share my 24 trading day account stat here. (I have too many computers with too many accounts to keep track of, but somehow it has served me well in regards to being able to trade better - whatever works for the individual I guess.)

If you are able to use a cent account you can practice on a real account while risking a little.

I agree with the importance of looking at risk-adjusted returns, but it's also important to distinguish between trading and investment. Hedge funds don't (always) operate in a highly leveraged environment that encourages enormous risk taking (500/1000:1) that the retail forex brokers encourage, so it is incumbent on the retail client to actively dilute/control that risk if they expect to be in the game for long.

Still practicing. (4 Different demo accounts.) 91K - 9/6 and 108K - 9/11 done in one day each, the other in couple of days, and 300K done in 26 or so trading days. Of course with real money results would be very different given emotions, trading conditions, etc., but still good days in Virtual Vegas for sure.

Last night's trades with internet outage. Luckily was in the right longer trend direction when closed this morning. UPS, internet backup from a phone, and MT4 phone app is a must if trading live I would think. Holding trades for hours is not what I ultimately like, but that said, letting winners ride is a thing.

I traded live many years ago when I didn't know what I was doing. Lost 10% of account and that stung enough to realize that I had more work to do. One day maybe I'll get back in the fray.

I started making some EAs (currently not using stoploss) but I only really have experience in manual trading. This is one result so far. I'll probably start a thread I guess, as I could use someone in the Tampa FL area that has experience with coding MQL4.
