In my experiences, opening gaps have been most reliable.. you will very very often get a retest of the close… (at least).

if you think about it from a psychological perspective, “testing” for confirmation or rejection makes sense considering that area hasn’t been traded yet so traders “don’t know”

I’ll add. Only if there is no certain reason for it to keep dropping. Like today. It’s a good buy opp.

I got closed out & re opened.

that was fast SL hitting . Im entering 1/6 lot of previous closed lot at 2737. And may add lower. Im not sure it can climb fast this time. May hit low and below again that is why i put my TP at 2740 but closed below it.

It happened that gold moved by $ 300 without closing the gap. I don't have a gap in my chart, saxo.
