You are right not to be impulsive. Analyze where you went wrong the best traders in history all said a very wise thing "I don't remember my winnings but I always remember my mistakes"
And don't forget that trading isn't about buying or selling all day (unless you're a scalper). Even watching the chart all day and waiting for the right opportunity is trading. Patience is the key

Same here, the problem is that I do not get what I want.

Waiting with 0.5 lots to go short when I feel the time is right!!!

Hello dear, I am not too much experience but I always earn very small profit and always go short after looking chart. I never trust over forecast or nor what are ppls doing..
If we can lost money with one wrong trade so we can get profitable trade with right trades and on right time.

Welp plan went to pot, got stopped for less than 1R.

There is probably a short in here that will materialise, but I'll probably just wait for a dip to go long again...CBA going long to grind out a few pennies at the ATH

A dip down to 2738 and I might take a small long.

You are absolutely right. Ever since last weeks loss, I have been unable to forget about it. My weekend was one of the worst ever but just a matter of time before I get over it.

Funny you mention scalping which is basically my way of trading. I prefer to be in and out of trades within minutes as I have a specific target daily (was previously £200). And at the moment I’m just refreshing and analysing before stepping in once again.

Are you a swing/day trader by any chance?
may be 2744~45 is the last price. when gold does it's second aggressive upward movement in a two continuous week, normally it prepares for a big dump. unless there is a geo-politics news.

i don't have any gold trade now.

Strange. It is almost impossible for a scalper to burn the account. A scalper is satisfied with a few pips and has very tight SLs. I don't know what broker you use but I generally know few scalpers who trade gold since it has a very high spread. Never set an income goal makes no sense. There are days you will make a few pips, other days hundreds of pips. I do 1 or maximum 2 operations a day. And when I don't understand the market like today no operations. I will start looking at buying only below 2729 otherwise everything is postponed until tomorrow

Again, you are completely. On the day, I was actually up by £300 (which is more than my daily target). I just got extremely greedy and wanted to carry on trading for some reason.

I've also realised that trying to make a specific amount daily shouldn’t be the ultimate goal. But in my defence, it’s like a guide for me not to over trade. Meaning once I get approximately that amount, trading is over for that day. And it has been working so well until I decided to break that rule.

Good thing you’re sitting it and watching everything unfold. We don’t have to forcefully get into a trade if we are not convinced
I would really like to know, all those traders who post here results where price moves less than $1 and they close, how much do you allow yourself to be in drawdown, because if you hunt lets say 0.5 to 1$ move on XAUUSD (0.036%) , that can literally happen in microseconds and so does the opposite and price can go against these trades easily $2-3 in a matter of seconds. It's like trading 2-3 pips above spread in EURUSD, barely covering the costs + tiny proft. What's the stop loss on these trades? Must be surely way above $2, otherwise it would hit SL with first larger volume 1min candle. Do you even use SL or just wait till you get into any profit?

“Technically” speaking, pa is showing signs of topping, however, gold has shown in numerous times in the past that technical analysis is not enough and its mainly moving with fundamental analysis. I have opened a short on 2736 and willing to accept my loss if it closes convincingly above 2745 edit: 4hr close below 2713 will be a major step towards the falling “if it happens”
